Bueng Chawak Chaloem Phrakiat
Mar 2021 • Family
Bueng Chawak Chaloem Phrakiat or Bueng Chawak is a large natural pond. with a vast area of approximately 2,700 rai ever It has been classified as a wetland of national importance. Due to the diversity of flora and fauna in the marsh. and the important thing is It is one of the places to visit near Bangkok. that is easy to drive within the Chawak lake There are many zones, including the zoo zone, the local vegetable park zone. and the Bueng Chawak Aquarium Our highlight is here. Aquarium building after 3, which is considered the first freshwater fish tunnel in Thailand as well. There are very amazing marine fish species on display here.

Really liked the Aquarium but gave the Zoo a miss
Dec 2020
Drove around the lake on the way to the Aquarium. Did not like the look of the Zoo so gave that a miss. Being over 60 years old (and a 'Farang'), I was given free entry to the Aquarium. The youngest member of our party of 4 had to pay baht 30. Well laid out, clean, and well maintained, there was lots to see in a visitor-friendly environment. I was amazed at the number of fresh water fish that were seen, as well as the sizes of many of them. Same for the salt water fish also.

Well worth a visit!

A Lake is a Lake
Oct 2017 • Friends
Bueng Chawak Chalermphrakiat is a fresh water lake in Suphanburi that covers 430 hectares, and is one of the province's most popular tourist attractions.

A former Thai prime minister, Banharn Silpa-arch, who was the local member for Suphanburi, in the 1990s pork barrelled the development of Lake Chawak to enlarge its water storage capacity to 10 million cubic meters, with the ability to irrigate a huge expanse of surrounding land and rice padi.

He was also primarily responsible for development of a zoo and an aquarium on the shores of the lake, which are also prime tourist attractions, but which I did not visit because I object to the discriminatory pricing for foreigners which is ten times the price of tickets for Thais.

Nice way to spend a few hours... very well maintained as well
Jul 2016 • Couples
We only had a few hours to look at this attraction and we were pleasantly surprised as to how well maintained it was with a nice selection of native fish as well as other species from other parts of the globe.
Several buildings to walk round and one with a walk through tunnel under the water which was great. Don't miss the shark feeding in the afternoon... three divers enter the tank and feed the various sharks.... kids loved it.
If your in the area you could easily spend half a day here, has the usual food court and souvenir shop as well. The only negative we found was parking was a bit hit or miss.... but we did go on a Thai National holiday!

A surprise gem in the countryside.
Apr 2015 • Friends
My friend suggested visiting an Aquarium in the middle of the Central Plains in Thailand. I was not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. It was hot and the middle of the Songram Holiday so there were a lot of people about, they seemed mostly Thai and I did not see another European. There were two aquariums, a large well designed and very ineresting one for freshwater fish and another for Sea fish. I did not go into the latter as the entry price for foreigners was much higher than for Thais, whereas it was the same in the Freshwater fish aquarium. The whole area is pleasantly landscaped, there are a lot of eating places and plenty of parking. Not far away is a zoo, a haven for children with quite a variety of animals including many white tigers. The whole area is beside a large lake with areas for picnics. There was also boating on the lake and there also appeared to be a pleasant looking resort at the lakeside.

Beautiful and clean aquarium
Feb 2015 • Couples
After a visit to the Bung Chawak Zoo (read about the zoo on my blogpost about it : www.thailandforfarang.com/other-places/suphanburi/attractions/bungchawak-zoo) my husband and I went to the Bung Chawak aquerium.

We went during a weekday. There was not too many tourists, but more than in the Zoo.
It's a pretty and very clean aquarium with many different kinds of fish. It's a very comfortable visit due to the escalators, the moving walkway and the airconditioning.
There also is a crocodile pond next to the aquarium.

Read more about the aquarium or take a look at my pictures on my blogpost about it : www.thailandforfarang.com/other-places/suphanburi/attractions/bungchawak-aquarium

Aquarium in Bueng Chawak
Jul 2014 • Couples
I was very surprised to find a big aquarium in a little town north of Bangkok. The aquarium is in 2 buildings. In both buildings, you will find many different kind of fish. As well the small as very big. The newest building has a great tank with sharks. At 2: 00 p.m. it is possible to see 3 divers feeding the sharks.

The fee for entrance is low, and it is worth taking the trip from Bangkok. If needed, there are more hotels close to the aquarium.
