What a disappointment
Jul 2019 • Friends
Staying in petchabun, we drove more than one hour to visit this historical park of which the reviews were not bad. Paid the 100 bahr fee to enter and then ... left alone. We had to search for the driver of the bus which is available to visit the park. After 20 minutes we fi ally got our drive ... of 10 minutes. Nothing to see except some stones. He dropped us off at a little bit bigger bunch of stones and told us he would wait at about 100 meters distances, and then ... he took off and not waited us. So, a walk of about 500 meters to get abck to our car and heading back to petchabun

Don't waste your time!

We passed Si Thep Historical Park on the way from Khao Kho to Lopburi so decided to make a stop here. Entrance fee for foreigner is THB 100, Thai people pay THB 20. Expected to see some impressive old temple ruins, but was quite disappointed finding out that there were only 2 old structures a bit interesting. Don't waste your time and money here.

Small it is but historically significant

Had a lovely time in this picturesque, clean and quiet place on the way to Phetchabun.
While hardly comparable to Angkor or Borobudur it is of interest to those who enjoy architecture and ancient history. It reminds me a lot of the Hindu ruins in the Dieng Plateau in Indonesia.

We had the opportunity of getting some first hand knowledge, assistance from a charming member of staff - Miss Sunar who was a delight to meet.

What has me guessing is the origin of a female skeleton that is 1.8 m long and that was dated 1-2 thousand years ago when the average height would have been lucky to be 1.4 metres.

We also went to Khao Klang Nok which is modelled apparently along Borobudur lines albeit a lot smaller and you are allowed to climb up 1 staircase to the top.

No need to spend your time

This is one of the ruins that you not need to see I added my photo's you have only tree things to see and your time for this is 20 min because you need to walk.

First you pay and after this a golf car will take you to the first ruins than you have to talk till the last one than you will be pickup and bring you to the exit.

There are other bigger historical monuments and worth for your time and money.

Small, well-organised historical park
Jan 2017 • Couples
This is the first historical park we saw with significant reliefs on the temples. The main area has a Hindu, Buddhist and Khmer temple, all older but better preserved than we saw elsewhere. There's also a small museum, and an archaeological site where ancient skeletons, jewellery and tools were found. There are more ruins further away, but we didn't visit them.

There's an open tram with knowledgeable driver to the main areas, and all attractions are well documented in Thai and English. Even though it is quite small and quiet, the park is a nice addition to the other historical parks in the area.

It is similar to the Sukhothai park, only much smaler, however the museum and the park are worth visiting when you pass by.

A Very Warm Welcome
Oct 2010 • Friends
Si Thep Historical Park, which is located in Petchabun Province is 130 km south of Petchabun city, and only a few dozen kilometers north of Lop Buri province on highway 21. The Si Thep Historical Park covers an area of almost 5 square km complete with remnants of walls and moats.nearby there are also ruins of a tower and couple of Khmer monuments. In all honesty The excavation which was still going on when I visited last year was not all that impressive, but like I said there was work still going on,so it may be a good idea to visit if your in the area.I do have one or two photos which I will try to add later as i,m having problems trying to scan them. One thing for sure is,that you do get a "very warm welcome indeed.
Directions
If your traveling north up the 21 carry on to Si Thep (as it is written on the signs) then you take a right at 2211 at its about 9 km from here
Tip
There is a shortage of good hotel accomodation in the area,However I would recommend the Bankanta which is about 5 km south of Si Thep on the left handside as your travelling north of (21).You will not find it listed anywhere,(not in english anyway) Not sure if i,m allowed to put their Tel number on here ,so if you want to drop me a message.I will be only too happy to give it to you.
