Phu Thap Boek I went with my family, it was a very fun trip, very happy. This place is very beautiful. Wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise and in the evening watch the sunset. The atmosphere is good, not hot, very cold, fresh air, going many times will not be bored at all. The service at Phu Thap Boek is also very good. All in all, everything is very good.

Sunrise View and Sea Cloud is the main reason of coming to this place. You have to drove all the way up. The chances of seeing Sunrise View and Sea Cloud is all depends on your luck. I have 50% of luck as I saw an amazing sunrise but did not manage to see the sea cloud(just some mist).
The mountain is higher and hence, it could be quite cold as you have to catch it very early in the morning.

Phu Thap Boek remains an unchanged popular place. Because here the weather is nice and cool. And even in the rainy season, there is still a chance to see the beautiful sea of mist. and the greenery of the mountains, grass and forests
In the evening, the delicious food that should not be missed when visiting Phu Thap Boek is grilled pork. There is a beautiful view that you can see from the big mirror from our bedroom.

when it rains The cold had arrived. It's a good time to go out and embrace the sea of clouds. Followed by a walk to see the cauliflower plots that have sprung up and dazzled all over the place.
In the fresh air take a full breath At night, set up a tent and lie in the cold wind and watch the stars in the sky and on the ground. As the metaphor says Phu Thap Boek is the star on earth. With an altitude of about 1768 meters above sea level, when viewed from the top of Phu Thap Boek down to the bottom at night You will see the lights of the houses twinkling like stars in the sky.

You can some cheap accommodation below 600baht. reasonably clean and comes with hot water. Try the Heaven Hills and stay away from big tour groups and Karaoke sound at night on the other side of the hills where it was packed with commercialized resorts.
You would rather hear the nature sings at night I suppose.

We had a long bus 6.5 hours bus ride from Bangkok Bus Terminal and another 1 hour from Lom Kao bus station to our resort. Bus line Lom Sak or Lom Kao can get you to the nearest point.
But getting there, communication with bus driver was a challenge because mostly can't speak English. Luckily the resort we staying speaks good English, helped us a lot letting the driver knows where to drop us. We paid 2500 baht for accomodation and additional 3000 baht for transportation from bus station - resort - half day Phu Tub Berk & Khao Kho walk about - Phisinoluk airport. (yup, we ended up booked a 55mins flight back to Bangkok intead of another 6.5 hours ride ^^)
The view was astonishing just too bad we didn't get to see the sea of clouds. Recommended to do a self drive so you can drive around the arae, enjoy the greenery, visit cabbage farm and a very nice temple nearby.
They are many small resorts available, find some of it quite pricey. Or you can rent a tent at around 500 to 600 baht a night.
Waking up by the ray and chilling wind is definitely worth the journey :)

Visited during a long weekend, the place was packed, would recommend to book a place to stay in advance if planning to stay overnight and not wanting to use the tent that can be rented for about 400 - 800THB. Place was stunning, great to be here before sunrise - sea of clouds - literally! Temperature was about 14 degrees. Lots of places to have a few drinks (or more) and eat, mostly Thai restaurants. Lovely place, would love to do another visit soon.

Been there last weekend, the weather was amazingly fresh. We drove from Bangkok, departed late morning and arrived in Phutubbuek in the last afternoon. The weather air temperature was absolutely different to Bangkok where I lived. There was so cool and fresh, You felt and breathed the ozone and did sleep well at night, we rented a house for 8 people and had BBQ party at night. After ten PM was so quiet and we still party inside the house. Woke up early in the morning was so blissful with fantastic view of white cloud and floggy sea when you watched from supreme point of mount. Amazing experience. First time for me and already planned to go back on next vacation. Love the nature and freshness of the air, fascinating view and freshy ozone. Come and experience :) You will love to be back !!!

We stay at Bluesky resort in Khao Kho and hired a minivan to drive us there at @6am hoping to see the sunrise(google map says 48mins drive).
Apparently, the roads uphill were steep and really difficult to navigate hence we advice driver to drive at low speed. Hence, we only arrived at the peak which is also the viewpoint touching 8am.
Though we missed the sunrise we were in awe looking at the fog sea from the viewpoint, it's really like heaven on earth.
The temperature was @16 to 17 Degree Celsius and with the strong wind blowing towards us it's pretty chilly even with sweater.
There are many stalls and restaurants near the viewpoint. Local produce such as strawberry, tapioca, orange color berries and a root that look like tapioca but taste like rock melon are abundant and reasonably priced.
We had our breakfast at one of the restaurant nearest to the viewpoint , vegetables dishes were fresh but price is higher compare to lowland(probably due to transportation cost to deliver goods up the mountain).
Buy some 5bahts to slot into the coin machine for entry to the loo.
As we were about to leave for our resort , we saw some guys hang gliding....really awesome.
Possibly my 1st and only time up to this mountain as I personally feel the road is not so safe. Will only visit again if the Thai authority construct a new and safe route.

It's monsoon season here in Thailand (June to October). Phu Thap Boek is always good all year round. The sea of clouds depends on the wind. Strong and fast moving wind means less clouds. Best time to visit is from November to January.

In July is rain season. You can be lucky but usually it rains every day but not all day long.
Weekend is busy in July as well.
If you check the weather forecast and stay only one night it's a good time because you will have clouds around you in the morning and a beautiful view.

Hope it is not too late for you. You can fly to Phitsanulok, about 165km from there.

Phu Thap Boek and Phu Tub Berk Mist Viewpoint is a two different places? Which one will give better view?
Written February 26, 2019
Phu Thap Boek is a mountain and the viewpoint is located on that mountain. The viewpoint is where the congregation of most campers and lookers are but there are many lookouts and viewpoints in PTB.

The road is not really dangerous, just drive carefully and slowly. You need to chartered taxi from Huyphi, Khao Kho to go up to the mountain
