This is a gross oversight on my part: for years, I have had a ritual to drive weekly to Talad Thai, the liveliest and largest 24/7 fresh market in the world, but only remember to return its overdue credits now. If you ever want to immerse yourself in the most authentic Thai way of life and commerce, free of all tourists, take a tour of this place and you will fall in love, like I do. It’s nothing short of amazing to mingle and feel accepted by all, merchants and buyers alike, without any needs of artifices, bargaining, and find yourself gawking at the freshest produce, meats, seafoods, fruits, etc. that you have ever seen in one sprawling space… Enough said! I am eternally grateful for Talad Thai!

Talad Thai is the huge market north of Bangkok where all vegetable are dispatch to local distributor. It’s comparable with Ringis in Paris. Trucks coming from the north bring goods and products are packed to be sold in the capital. Several big halls are dedicated for vegetables, spices and fruits.

I've been in SEA for a long time and this is the biggest and best market I've been to. I live in the Pathum Thani area and therefore purchase all of my fruits and vegetables here. The area of the market dedicated to fruits and veggies is easily the size of three or four football fields. It's insane. Easy to get to as well, as it is right on the main highway leading north out of Bangkok.

To get here from BKK: Go to either Victory Monument or the van station opposite Chatuchak Park (near the BTS stop) and get on a van heading to Thammasat University, Rangsit. Get off at Thammasat Hospital and then take a motorcyle taxi another 1 or 2 kilo and you're there.

Its a great way to organize the market. Fruits, vegetable, Flowers and many more things are available at very very reasonable prize. There are both type of markets: wholesale and retail (for individual consumption). Worth a visit if you are staying in Bangkok for sometime and need to purchase vegetable, flower, fruits and much more!

We were in the area so we stopped to see this famous market out of curiosity. It is mostly a whole sale market, but we were able to buy a few things at very reasonable prices, mostly fruits, fresh herbs and vegetables. The quality of the produce was like none I've ever seen, so fresh, large and beautiful. If you are a person who likes markets this one is outstanding, very clean and airy and not crowded. It is a very large market. There are separate large open air pavilions for different types of produce.
