One of the most popular and beautiful mountains in Armenia among the hikers community! It has an amazing crater lake on the summit, and just the views there in general are amazing! There are many different routes to climb Azhdahak, I will mention 3 most popular ones: 1. From Akna lake (you can get to Akna lake with 4x4 vehicles or long hiking from Sevaberd). 2. From Small Nalsar (Paytasar) (again either 4x4 vehicles till there or a long hike from Geghard village) or from mt. Vishapasar (again the same type of approach from there as well). The shortest and easiest one is the 2nd option, from Small Paytasar. But my favorite one is from Akna lake!
The best and most beautiful season is from mid Jun till late July. August getting hotter, then late September and October can be nice as well, not too hot.
As it's more than 3500m high, expect, that it can snow there in Any season! Even in warm summer day! So always consider some warm jackets, waterproof raincoat and good hiking boots. For more detailed information don't hesitate to contact me..

The entire region of Azhdahak peak is dotted with lakes and smaller volcanoes. The plateau itself is above 3000m. I did the hike from Sevaberd to Lake Aknalich to the peak and then back in two days. There was scarcity of fresh water. the lake water was ok to drink though but better to use filter. The hike was beautiful. The crater lake is super clean and the water is totally drinkable. We had good visibility and weather. The trails aren't marked but easy to follow.
