I find it impossible to find anything remotely negative to say about the El Dorado Bird Reserve. We did have a brief power cut during our visit, but that was beyond their control, besides the generator 'kicked in' so the main building had electricity and they provided torches in the sleeping accommodations. The Lodge's location was literally out of this... More

I had an amazing and unforgettable experience in El Dorado Bird Reserve. A beautiful bird and nature paradise in a mountainous region. Even it is an expensive stay here it totally makes up for the costs. You'll have an experience you will always remember

It's not easy to get here but it's well worth the effort for the amazing rare birds here you can't see anywhere else. The Santa Marta Parakeets were at a distance but some people get lucky and see them closer. I have more details on my blog Miles to the Wild.

Among the top sites in the world for birding and nature. With very friendly and hospitable staff, good food, clean rooms, nice trails and spectacular views. You need a 4x4 to reach the lodge. The rooms are great. The Kogihabs are more expensive, and are a 15 minute walk. We stayed in the Kogihab anyway, and will never forget the... More

Never saw so many birds so close around me. Very nice place to sit down, relax a little bit and watch the birds.

We had room #4 in the Jelenn? Cabins - wonderful and cozy and unbelievably clean. The room had: a balcony with incredible view of landscape with clouds rolling in and out, crested Oropendolas flying back and forth to their nests and if you're lucky, a Band-tailed Guan or Red-tailed squirrel on the ground below. the room had 1 double bed... The conservation group Pro Aves do a fabulous job here. They are conserving the important habitat, providing top quality guest services, working with and encouraging local communities, and providing services for further research on the region. The rooms are great, the meals fab and the staff are sweet, accommodating and helpful. Not often you get a full breakfast at 4.30... More

For anyone looking to find exotic birds and lots of them, this is a must-see place. There are many species only found here. We saw almost all of them. the drivers and staff know a lot about the birds, but bring you own guide to maximize the adventure if you're a serious birder.

Our stay at El Dorado was a favorite of our two weeks in Colombia. We are birdwatchers but anyone that likes nature and relaxing would love this place. Our room was very comfortable and the view excellent. We heard Howler Monkeys from our room and saw and heard macaws one morning. The food was delicious in the dining room and... More
