It was a long but interesting road trip up the Eastern coast to Sainte Marie which is in itself a cute small town. Worthwhile. The 40 year old rhum tried in "degustation" was phenomenal. Very friendly staff. Well kept grounds. Neat operations in a set of old beaultiful buildings. I believe they are open 7 days a week.

Its the best place on the island to learn about rum and its history with Martinique, I got to taste many types and buy all my favourites at a much lower price than town, usually I'd mix with coke but here a little water is enough as the taste is quite refreshing compared to commercial brands of rum.

This distillery is filled with old historic buildings and is worth a visit. There is a train to take through the cane fields, but it is all in French.

The distillery is a fun place to visit just on its own, but with a bit of planning I would time your visit for when there is one of the local food and drink festivals on as they are great fun! Hundreds of stalls selling souvenirs, drinks, snacks and jerk chicken just made the whole experience so much fun. Just... More

to see the process drive further north and see the steps from A-Z at Rhum JM, en Macouba. The tasting will not disappoint either.

Big parking lot and self service informative signs that tell the story of rhum distillery and the history of the place. Just walk to the back of the big house and proceed to the smaller building. Be sure to also check out the second storey for a few more things to see. There is a store from which one could... More

Very nice exposition about Martinique rum distillery. The oldest rum from 1885 year are available there. The visit is tax free and also the tax free degustation.

I.floor is some exhibiton about Rhum production on Antilles, upstairs you can see some overview of advertising by Rhum marketing, but in the first floor You can make degustation of known Rhums from St.James factory. More than 250 years old, this Plantation has been growing sugar cane and making rum for centuries. Ride the cane railway for a leisurely trip through the fields of bananas and sugar cane, visit the museum to learn of the history of rum making the the French Caribbean island and taste the marvelous spirits produced on site.

We arrived an hour before closing and checked to make sure there was enough time for the visit. They said yes, but then completely ignored us in order to hurry us up. No samples. Wouldn't even take the time to sell us some rum. That's fine. We can find some elsewhere.
