About
Paul paints the wild, remote landscapes of the North Pennines, often through the Windows of its long abandoned cottages and barns. 'My paintings are a response to the beautiful and often stark landscape of The North Pennines - from broad views of the moors and fells, to more intimate views glimpsed through windows in abandoned dwellings. The landscape is littered with the scars of mining and quarrying and I am producing paintings of places as they are slowly being reclaimed by nature. I am constantly amazed at the amount of abandoned dwellings that I keep finding and they are a rich source of inspiration to me,' Paul Stangroom Winner of the Royal Watercolour Society Award, 2009 Shows work in Ribeira Brava, Madeira, and Gallery in the Mill, Allendale NE47 9EA.

Amazing talent and beautiful paintings. The gallery is situated on the Main Street and has a very friendly atmosphere. Not only does the gallery sell prints and originals, but there is also smaller items such as cards, calendars and books for sale, perfect for gifts. Definitely a must see when in Prudhoe!

Amazing selection of original artwork and a great range of prints, notecards and, currently, a beautiful calendar with assorted views which have been taken from Paul's artwork. Painting classes also available as well as good advice on choosing a picture. Highly recommended. Personally I love the Windows themed pictures.

Paul's work is amazing - he puts his heart and soul into every painting he does. He is one of the best watercolour fine artists I have come across and should be given more recognition in his field. He paints local scenes and derelict buildings which incorporate his 'window' series. He also has paintings from his time in India. The gallery has original paintings, limited edition prints and cards, but if you want something special he undertakes commissions. A gallery not to be missed!

So it's Prudhoe's first Art Trail and Paul Stangrooms gallery was on the list. Paul offers lessons and taster sessions, so we had a try. Paul was really good and showed us through the colour wheel which was very interesting. Then we had a try and mixing coloura. It was a really fascinating afternoon.
In addition Paul's gallery is full of brilliant works and well worth a browse.
