Hapuna Beach might not be the most exotic or captivating beach on the Big Island (it actually reminded me a little of some of the beaches on Lake Michigan!), but it's still a great beach. The sand here is soft and white and I thought the swimming conditions were excellent. It stays somewhat shallow so you can swim out quite... More

Claimed to be one of the best beaches in the US it fell short of that description but it was a great little beach, clean sand and warm water that was at the perfect temperature. It costs $5 to visit and park at the beach.

It was awesome to only have to drive a short ways to find a perfect white sand beach with picturesque blue water. With lots of space, not much crowding and decent amenities just off-beach, we spend half a day here enjoying the warm water and beautiful weather. There's lots of space to run along the water if you're looking for... More

This is one of Hawaii's best beaches. A broad white sand expanse leads to warm clear waters with lots of space to stretch out. Generally the water is calm but can get choppy later in the day. Limited snorkeling, more of a play in the gentle waves and enjoy the beauty sort of place. This is a State beach with... More

Beautiful white sand beach. Waves small to medium. Wish the food shack was open longer. It's right next to Beach 69.

This is a gorgeous beach: the sand almost looks pink when the water reaches the shore. The color of the water is aqua blue. The waves can be strong so beware. If you want to get out of the sun there are covered picnic tables. I found the beachfront small compared to Florida beaches so was a little disappointed that... More

This is one of those picture perfect beaches you see in magazines. White sand, turquoise water and gentle waves. It's a state park so there is a small enrty fee per car. At this writing it's $5.00. Restrooms, showers and picnic tables, too.

Picture paradise: Hapuna Beach. It is not only beautiful but also has shaded picnic tables with great views, showers, snack bar, and the warmest, friendliest waters you'll ever see, even coral reefs where plenty of tropical fish call home, just a few yards from shore to have some snorkeling fun. If in the Big Island you must go.
