Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

Perth zoo is relatively compact but very well laid out making it relatively easy to get around in three to four hours. None-the-less the enclosures seemed expansive. Great selection of exotic and native animals, Good vantage points for photographic opportunities, Unexpected extra bonus of a myriad of life-sized anitromic dinosaurs to thrill both the young and the young at heart!... A beautiful experience with my parents! It was a joy to be able to see the animals so close date. the zoo also has an excellent area to relax and a place where you can enjoy a quick meal in peace. If I were to return to Australia you definitely further visit!

We took the ferry from Elizabeth Quay over to South Perth to go to the zoo, which is very easy to do. I can see that Perth Zoo is trying it's best to keep the zoo interesting through the addition of animatronic dinosaurs, but the rest of the zoo is very much the same as the last time I visited,... Brilliant zoo. Wasn't sure if I should go due to having been taronga in Sydney only a few weeks ago but decided to go check it out and it was brilliant. I think even better than taronga! The many animals are really well looked after there habitats were very good. They looked happy. The zoo takes in abandoned/ harmed animals... More

Very well laid out, plenty of animals, good picnic facilities, friendly staff, the dinosaurs were on show when we went and these were absolutely brilliant, in fact my 2 year old grandson enjoyed them more than the animals!

Whilst this is a relatively small zoo compared to other Australian cities it certainly successfully does its part in the conservation of the orangutan species in the wild. We found the keeper talk highly interesting though pitched at adults rather than children. The current dinosaur exhibit at the zoo is a huge hit with young and the not so young... More

Fantastic day out. We easily spent 3 hrs there , but if you pack a picnic lunch- easy to spend more time there. We caught the ferry over from Barracks ferry($29/ person included return ferry fare and zoo entrance). The zoo is beautiful , clean, easy walking and fun for all. Well worth the money. Compared to Taronga zoo -... More

It has been many years since I have visited the zoo, and it was just as wonderful as I remember it! There has been some work during this time to improve the enclosures and they currently have a great dinosaur attraction running where there are 15 life size dinosaurs housed throughout the zoo which our kids loved! It isn't a... More

Amongst the beautiful gardens are so many interesting animals and reptiles - the signage is excellent and plenty of volunteers to help you navigate around and give extra information and options. Plenty extra eye to eye experiences to make the day even more special.
