Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

Great little zoo to wander through. Beautiful animals and knowledgeable staff. Lots of places to sit and chill or wander and get lost in.

Had a great afternoon at Perth Zoo. Loads too see. You actually forget you are so close to the city once inside because its so green with so many trees and plants. The enclosures are fabulous for the animals as they have made them like they are in their natural habitat. Overall the zoo is well set out . It... More

We have travelled all over Australia and Tasmania and seen the road signs for koala, Tasmanian devils, echidna but never saw one! But here they all are! The koalas are just as cuddly looking. the Tasmanian Devil just as nasty looking, it really has the biggest teeth and jaw. All the animals are well kept and looked healthy. The kangaroos... More

A great afternoon strolling through lush gardens with wide path ways. A few areas of the zoo are undergoing renovations and upgrades, but it didn't effect our visit at all. I was disappointed that there were no keeper talks scheduled after 2:45 pm. The play area is quite spread out which made it tricky with 2 kids who want to... More

Perth Zoo is easy to find and close to the City. Access is best by public transport as on-site parking is very limited. You could have a long walk from short-term street parking which is also strongly enforced. The Zoo is well landscaped and animals are generally thoughtfully housed in as near to natural conditions as possible. Plenty of grassed... More

I actually just went to the zoo to see the Tasmanian Devil, Wombat and Dingo. When we arrived they were just feeding the Devils 😊, pretty cool. The one and only Koala was awake by that time as well. So happy that the Wombat showed himself just before closing time. Dingo's were active, so mission accomplished. Beside those animals, I... More

Easy to get to by car, bus or ferry. Lovely gardens and great ambience. Lunch can be purchased - there is quite a variety. The lawn area is great to put out your picnic blanket and let the little ones run off some of their energy

Average zoo. Lots of enclosures closed for refurbishment. One koala and one kangaroo which is pretty poor. The talks were pretty short by the keepers too.

Situated in the popular suburb of South Perth, which used to be my home town, the zoo is a splendid attraction which will provide hours of entertainment if the weather is wet or dry for all the family. There are so many wonderful animals ranging from our native Kangaroo, which are so tame, wild Dogs, Elephants, Orangutans , various species... More

Perth Zoo is situated a short ferry ride from downtown Perth to South Perth, followed by an eight minute walk to the main entrance gate. Families or small groups enjoy special entrance fee concessions as do the elderly. The zoo is stroller and wheelchair friendly and the pathways and exhibits are all well marked. The zoo features several eateries for... More
