Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

Don't expect too much it is just another Zoo. If you want direct contact to animals you have to preliminary book and pay additional costs. But at least it is an option. Bbq places are there like in all the parks in Australia and the boat trip you will probably have to take gives a colour for the day.

This zoo is honestly an brilliant place to go with the entire family. I recommend going on a warm, sunny day but still an amazing experience. There's a wide variety of animals and so much to do their for all ages. I highly recommend!

When I visited, there were mechanical dinosaurs installed throughout the park. Visitiors were given a zoo map highlighting the dinosaurs place and a map containing checklist of the dinosaurs. My 5 y.o. niece had very much fun locating all the dinosaurs, which are completed with information boards containing not only info about the dino but also the corresponding existing animal.... More

We were visitors to Perth but our three year old granddaughter is a frequent zoo visitor. So armed with the map we headed off. Very easy to follow the map or signs. The zoo is incredibly clean, nice wide shady paths, easy walk. Nocturnal house was a hit after we were told by Miss 3 to be very very quiet!... More

I came here knowing it was a smaller zoo, but I simply wanted to see some of the local animals. Many of them are on display, including kangaroos and koalas. The crocodile was sleeping when I visited, and some of the others were simply missing (the Tasmanian Devil and Numbat). Despite that, I had a good time and got plenty... More

This is a tremendous day out. The zoo is located amongst and enormous number of trees and bamboos, which means you are often walking through a jungle, and you come round a corner to some animals! The animals are varied and interesting, and all seem well cared for. Coming from England we saw animals we had not only not seen... More
