Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

These are probably the less famous 'Little Creatures' in Perth (not the beer or brewery). The zoo is just brilliant. The animal enclosures are tidy and allow you to get fairly close. There is also a nice open park to sit and have a picnic. You can bring your own food, so it doesn't have to be a very expensive... More

We have year round passes to the Perth zoo. It's a great place to visit, pretty surroundings and plenty of places to sit and picnic or rest in between seeing the animals. We've even popped in for just a couple of hours for afternoon tea or for our brandies to play in the kids playgrounds or activities. The Orangutan area... More

Beautiful zoo. Great enclosures. Look at the timetable as you enter so you can see different feeding times. Take a picnic and sit in the beautiful gardens

I had heard wonderful things about the zoo taking great care of its animals so I wanted to give it a go. The zoo is beautifully laid out and maintained, has lovely staff in the cafe and grounds, and I'd say 80% of the animals are kept in fantastic enclosures. Such a terrible shame then to see rhinos, lions, tigers,... More

First visit here for many years, and we were not disappointed, the whole zoo is a work of art, with lots of shady areas covering alongside the footpaths. The orangutan area is fantastic, and very detailed work has gone into the care and wellbeing of all animals at the zoo. Put this on your list, you will not be sorry.

We enjoyed the beauty of the zoo and the amazing animals. The birds, Australian animals, the walkways--all of it was excellent. Getting there from Perth on the ferry boat was also fun!

We were in the city so called into the zoo on our way home. Always a nice walk around beautiful gardens. Seeing animals is a bonus. The orang-utan inclosure is my favourite and awesome to watch the young ones play with sacks and water.

Great location close to the city, river and other great Perth attractions. Parking is close too. Facilities are clean, neat and mostly new. Cafe could do with a few more healthier meal options, however they make a good coffee. The zoo grounds are very clean, neat and easy to negotiate. Volunteer staff are very helpful.
