I wouldn't claim that the jetty is impressive but it is a great facility for passengers on the ferry commutes between Elizabeth Quay and South Perth. Disembark the ferry and a few short steps brings you to Mr Walker Restaurant, a little further and you are greeted by the enormous frill necked lizard. Regular ferry services, cheap fares and free to seniors and pensioners during off-peak times.

The Mends Street Jetty area has become the entry to South Perth. Metal sculptures of two local native animals, the numbat and the frilled lizard, greet passengers as they step off the ferry from Elizabeth Quay. You can walk down to Perth Zoo, which takes around 15 minutes, or walk along the foreshore. The Mends St area is very active these days, and is likely to become the commercial heart of South Perth. The South Perth City Council has a number of projects underway which will add to the attractiveness of the area. If you are looking for somewhere to eat, the well-known Mr Walker can be recommended, as can the historic Windsor Hotel.

The face lift the City of South Perth has done is fantastic. The new mends street jetty area is extremely family friendly. Check out the Emu and Meerkat statues, sit, relax and enjoy the river and city views or grab a coffee, drink or meal at one of the great restaurants nearby. Miss Chow’s is my favourite.

We took the ferry across to Mends Street Jetty to have a walk along the South Foreshore.
There are two ferries running continuously between Elizabeth Quay and the Mends Street Jetty, really good service.
We had a drink and a snack at the Mister Walker Restaurant on the jetty.
Looks a well maintained and can be quite busy.

This has more than a few uses but it mainly is the jetty for the South Perth ferry. It is the platform that many people enter and leave South Perth foreshore.
This area had lots of shops bars and pubs within walking distance. It usually is where a lot of people start their Perth Zoo trips from. There is lots to see and do from this area.
Apart from this is also a great fishing platform which I regularly used years ago. I'm unsure if this still occurs but I'm sure it does.

Mends St Jetty is where the ferry ties up. The jetty is a South Perth landmark. The jetty is on the south side of Perth Water. Mends St Jetty's main function is to take families from the Perth CBD to the South Perth Zoo. The Zoo is around a 15 minute walk from Mends St. The Mends St ferry is affordable for families. The ferry is operated by Transperth. It's a fun day out.

If you catch the Transperth Ferry you will arrive at the Mends Jetty. Instead of rushing off take a few minutes to enjoy the various sculptures dotted around.
The most obvious is the giant yellow Frilled Lizard and Numbat. You will also encounter the Emu statues and a Rhinoceros on the other side of the road.
Right on the waterfront is a cute collection of Meerkats called ‘The Mends Street Mob’
There are plenty of eateries and playground area nearby.

My first experience boarding the Jetty ferry over to South Perth on Thursday 03/12/20 & some fantastic views in both directions. On arrival at Mends Street Jetty again some fantastic city views. Highly recommend the ferry ride for all ages either day or evenings.

Mends St Jetty is the entry to South Perth. There is a giant canopy at the jetty. made of a numbat and frilled neck lizard, both native to South Perth. The ferry from Elizabeth Quay docks here, it is a feature of South Perth life. Seniors are free, off peak. There are lots a places to have a coffee in Mends St. The South Perth Zoo is a 15 minute walk away.

I had seen the Mends St foreshore revival as it progressed but until today hadn't seen the finished result. I am impressed. It as brightened up the area with interesting sculptures, lots of seating and of course a view to die for. Well worth a visit.
