Highlight of our Trip!! Intimate Champagne Experience
Sep 2019
We went to Champagne from Paris on a self-guided day trip. After we visited the Ave de Champagne in Epernay, we took a taxi to Hautvillers to see the vineyards. As we were walking around, we stopped by the house of Champagne Fernand Lemarie, which was a small quaint house with huge hospitality and genuine love and passion for their work! When we popped in, we had a 3-glass tasting which was very affordable (6 euros for 3 samples, if I recall correctly). The champagne was delicious! What made the experience even more amazing was the warm hospitality of the son (this is a 4th generation family business). We visited (unknowingly) on the last day of harvest and were invited to see the champagne making process which was very special! I purchased a bottle of champagne to take back to friends to share the story of this family, their craft, and their enthusiasm for welcoming us into their world. Merci!

Very friendly tour and tasting
Aug 2018 • Couples
We took the tour and tasting. Only 12 euro for 2 persons. At that moment we were the only ones so it was a special tour just for us. I dont know how this usually work if its more crowded.

We got a nice explanation of the proces and got to see the different steps of the process. We also went into their cellar which was special to see. The tasting was good, and we could not resist to buy some champagne and some glasses. Defintly worth visiting!

Champagne taste
Aug 2018 • Couples
This was the first small champagne house we visited, it was brilliant. Hosts were incredibly friendly, even if we had to communicate via google translate! We tried the 3 main champagnes and even got to look in the workshop and the press in action.
The venue had a lovely view and we felt at ease sipping our drinks, I would even say it was our favourite of the trip and we will enjoy drinking the 2010 vintage we bought when we get home.
Useful tip - If the tasting room looks closed just ring the doorbell of the house opposite.

Wonderful small family business and reasonable prices.

We first visited this small Champagne House a few years ago as part of a tour. We love their products and can recommend all of them for their occasion. This is a small family business, only just big enough to carry its own label. The family is friendly, knows little English, but is patient with visitors. A great place to visit (as part of a your) and to buy.

A great private and personal champagne producer/tasting.

We visited here last year (Sept) with Cris tours/events and loved it then when we're celebrating my wife's 60th and my daughters 30th. The champagne tasting is great and the champagne is good quality and reasonably priced.
We returned this year with our car and were able to purchase several cases of champagne, a set of their champagne glasses ( 25Eu for 6) and their champagne stopper (5). We love their rose champagne (6 for 108). We also loved their Brut champagne ( 6 for 90) and the Grande Reserve was only 17 a bottle. A lovely personal tasting experience with good quality champagne in a private small producer in the beautiful village of Hautvillers. I would recommend this experience to compare against the big commercial producers and you decide which you prefer ?
Oh they charge 5 euros for a tasting to cover their costs but they removed this from our bill as we bought several cases of champagne.

VERY special tasting hosted by the founder's great granddaughter
Jul 2016 • Friends
Those of us who don't live in France cannot imagine being able to buy an exceptional champagne for what one pays here in the middle of the province of Champagne: Hautvillers. This is a small house - run by the founder's grandson, his wife, daughter and two other full-time employees. What a treat it was to taste with the granddaughter! Excellent excellent wine, both the traditional and the vintage.

First nice stop
Oct 2015 • Couples
This was our first and very nice stop of the Champagne tour with Chris Events. We met F. Lemaire's great granddaughter who invited us to try some of their products. In addition, interesting visit to the wine celler.

Enjoyable visit. Learned a lot
Oct 2015
This was part of a tour we took through Cris-Event.
The staff was BUSY with bottling, but took time to chat and explain the process.
Of course, the champagne was delicious....AND - coming from the US - very reasonably priced.

Off it went

By chance, we passed LeMaire when staff was disgorging bottles: Freezing bottle neck, removing capsule and sediment, and corking the bottles. We had tried to see this process in the big Houses in Reims, but were not allowed. Here, Lemaire generously shared his secret with us, making this incident one of the highlights of our week in the region. Santé, Monsieur Lemaire - et merci!

Wow! a small boutique Champagne company!
Sep 2015 • Couples
We were taken on our tour to this vineyard run by a couple and their children. we were fortunate to get there the very first day of harvest. They were gracious to let us see the entire process and even let us drink the juice right off the press. The champagne tour was unlike any of our wine tours and it intrigued us. It was a highlight of our trip. This is also the village where Monk Dom Perignon started his first champagne process. We loved it!
