An authentic atmosphere of a French school back in XIX-XX. You see a snapshot of 11 July 1928: board, books, desks, berets in the hall, etc. However, some elements are older and some are more recent that 1928: the class book is of 1941, you can read and admire the reasons of absence: 'went to see his grandfather in the Occupied Zone' (Château Chalon was in the Zone Libre), 'looked after his ill mother', 'had no shoes'.
Take your time to look into the old books on the shelves and to test a nib pen. Try to find your first name on the desk tags, I've found mine.
When finished take a drink on the terrace in the neighbouring tourist office with a magnificent view of the valley.
This school is an absolute gem.

fascinating look into how youngsters were taught, what subjects they were exposed to
some in the group from other countries could recognize elements from their younger years
