A must see for the fishing tourist!

I visited the St. Mary's River Salmon Museum on our recent visit to Sherbrooke. I scanned the various items stored here rather quickly, as I was lacking the time to fully absorb all that was there, but I very much enjoyed seeing the historical fishing equipment that was common to that area. One of the saddest things about this area is the fact that a wonderful salmon river from 100 years ago no longer has a run of Atlantic Salmon for the angler to fish for - to me this is one of the saddest things to happen in my own lifetime, to realize that Nova Scotia's fine salmon runs of even 40 years ago are no more. The young lady staffing the museum was friendly and accommodating. I am glad that some people had the foresight to collect and preserve the local areas angling history. Any salmon angler will enjoy visiting this place!

Very pretty spot on the St Marys river.

Very interesting spot to learn about the Atlantic salmon. My father spent a lot of time there and gave them artifacts to use and to promote the area. Nice spot to stop and take a break, lots of parking and a picnic spot directly across the road with a view of the falls on the St Marys river.

A little gem

This is a sweet little museum on the St Mary's river in Sherbrooke NS. It has a nice display of fly fishing artifacts from salmon fishing over the years in the St. Mary's.

Nice place to learn about the history of salmon fishing in this area and why it has decreased lately. Flymaking is an art in itself, we learned.
