Very beautiful place. But there is an automatic camera charging system when entering the area. The fee cant be paid on localy but must be paid within 48h on a website or app. Our little camper van length 5.30 height 2m should cost about NOK 300 for one night in the parking lot according to the signs.
There is 3 simple toilets and water taps available for campers. Sheaps walking freely among the cars and campers. Very charming, but mind your steps.
When we were to pay on the Youpark website, it surprisingly cost us 600 NOK. The system counted our van as a minibus for up to 16 seated people? and that costs 600.- per day. Our camper, multivan was one of the smallest om sight. For us a troubled strange parking system in a truly wonderful location.

We were in Lofoten for a day on a recent 12 week cruise of Norway. If you haven't been to Norway, the country is simply beautiful and everywhere you look is simply breathtaking.

Uttakleiv Beach, like many other places in Norway, is beautiful...but it's also crammed with tourists. I'm not exactly such what the fascination is with pointing out the beaches in Lofoten, but this seems to be a highlight. And while it's a pretty beach, there are significantly far, far, far better beach and more beautiful beach in the world...then again, one doesn't go to Norway to look at the beaches (hence, my loss for understanding why it's so important to point this site out to tourist).

And tourist there are! There must have been no fewer than 15 tour buses (all full), all trying to figure out where to park/turn around. Hundreds of tourist vying to get the "perfect shot", each running into the other's pictures.

And then the sheep appeared!!

One would have thought that the elusive white rhino had been spotted. Tourist running (yes, running) after the sheep to capture one of the creature's picture. Obviously, people need a little more rural exposure.

If you want to "check off" the ideal spots in Lofoten, then definitely head here. If you want to experience the beauty of Norway in a more authentic setting...head somewhere else (and there are plenty to chose from).

We stopped here for lunch on a drizzly June afternoon. The parking charge is 40 NOK for a standard car and we stayed for less than an hour. Haukland beach was prettier and no parking charge, and some nice walking at that beach.

Going from Haukland Beach to Uttakleiv Beach is a walk (~6km) that is worth doing. The views are amazing (like all of Lofoten) and the path is good, even in the winter (although I only recommend it if it is not snowing nor raining). There is a tunnel that connects both beaches also that can be done walking (there are reflective vests on both entries of the tunnel that can be used to pass the tunnel in a more safe way). The suggestion is go from one beach to the other, and return by the tunnel (way faster).

We'd been to Haukland Beach and were curious about the tunnel though the mountain so we ventured along the 800m road to Uttakleiv Beach. It's a very scenic beach, but after spending quite a bit of time marvelling at Haukland we didn't stay here too long.

You can walk over the mountain between the two beaches, but the tunnel was great .... almost spooky as we were the only ones there.

Connected by one-hor walk to hauckland beach. But you can also drive to both beaches. Mountains visible as are flat agricultural areas. Combined with nearby hAuckland beach, you get picnic areas, rock in water pictures, waves, mountains, and a hike opportunity.

We had a short stop here for sightseeing. There is a small parking fee of NOK50 for normal car. Many local people do picnic here or even do camping. Very nice place to visit. Parking staff claimed that it is the most beautiful beach in Europe.

This camp left contradictory feelings afterwards. The place is truly amazing and the view from the shore is fantastic. On the contrary there are no showers (even though they charge you 200 nok for car and tent stay over night), the area for tenting is all dirty with sheep's waste products and you would probably need a shovel to clean the spot for a tent. There is no free parking in the vicinity(except parking on the Haukland beach and have a promenad around Veggen) so even if you would like to simply walk around the shore you will be charged 50 nok. There were strange things such as the ticket called 24 hour campaign, but they say that check out is at 13.00, and there are no light bulbs in the toilets, only dim light from the diodes.

To be fair this is an amazing spot to spend a night, drink some vine and sit by the fire (you can buy some wood - there are a lot of fire places). We had a beautiful walk around the cliff and enjoyed the sunset, but I still don't understand why they charge as though this was a real camping.

The Uttakleiv beach and camp site is well worth a detour. A spectacular beach hidden behind a tunnel through the mountain. You can pitch a tent on the grass leading to the beach or park your camper on a relatively small parking area. Plenty (!) of room for tents, although you might have to share it with gracing sheep.

There is a parking/camping charge that you pay in a ticket machine. The service is minimalistic with only a few toilets and one place to clean your dishes and get fresh water. Nowhere to heat food.

You don’t come here for luxury or service but for the view. It’s worth it!
