I feel like this is the first thing you need to see when you get to Point Pleasant. It’s such an iconic statue of events that took place in this town. I went during the week so there wasn’t a line for pictures. It’s located by a nice garden too and next to the Mothman Museum, which is also a must see!

Point Pleasant was a really great stop. We thought the Mothman Statue was really neat - a great photo op! We also visited the museum, which is right near the statue. We walked along the water, viewed the murals, and enjoyed walking a bit of the downtown. There is free parking available.

My wife and I made a quick 5 and 1/2 hour road trip to visit Point Pleasant and we loved every second of it. Stayed at the Historic Lowe Hotel and of course visited the Mothman statue. You can log into the live camera and watch all the shenanigans the statue attracts haha! We are at the Hibachi House which was great, visited the Mothman museum and all of the little shops around, and checked out the River and the fort etc. and for our finale, we visited the super creepy TNT domes!! Highly recommend visiting Point Pleasant and all the spooky weird fun it has to offer!

This statue is great. It was worth the 5 hour drive from Virginia. The mothman mythology is what brought me to Point Pleasant so taking a picture with this statue was a highlight of my trip. Good for P P for erecting such cool statue.

So the big draw here was confronting my fears. The Mothman movie scared the dickens out of me. I can honestly say, after seeing the shiney sculpted booty of the Morhman Statue, I have conquered my fear. As far as quirky roadside attractions go, it was totally worth the peek. We skipped the full museum tour because we had a toddler in tow, but picked up a Mothman magnet for my sister. Good times!

The Mothman Statue is located in downtown Point Pleasant. It is between the Mothman Museum and the Coffee Grinder. Great for photos, and there is a Mothman legend plaque with the history.

Spent much time exploring the area and there is much to do. Stay at the Lowe Inn and visit the Mothman museum, the River museum, The navy Poster Museum, the Mason Jar, The Ohio River Walkway, The Point Park and the bridge memorial. The people in the town are just wonderful.

My husband didn't believe me when I told him about this statue and the museum nearby when we were driving through this area on a Tuesday morning a few weeks ago. He had seen the Mothman movie and knew the story, but he had no idea that this excellent statue existed. It was a beautiful day, so we took a few minutes to stop. We parked right next to it, and there was no one else there! Of course we HAD to take pictures and send them to our teenagers who were staying with my husband's parents. I still don't think their grandparents have any idea what the statue actually is, but I don't think they saw the movie either. The story of the bridge is really sad, but the statue is incredible. We were really, really hoping to go to the Mothman Museum and buy some t-shirts, so we went into a nearby antique mall to pass the time until it opened. There were some funny handmade Mothman things there too. We really needed to get back on the road, and the museum hadn't opened yet, so we took another good look at the Mothman statue and the monuments there and left. It's such an oddity that we'll definitely take our kids there when we're going through that area again. It's definitely one of those things you'll never see anywhere else. I sure hope the museum is open next time!

Giant shiny statue of a man sized, red eyed moth...based on legend, prophecy, and myth...it stands in the middle of a quiet dead end street in a quiet town...right nearby is a beautiful waterside walk, other various statues, plaques, a flood wall mural, and monuments. The town is full of personality and history, the people are all so pleasant...you really cant go wrong

If you get a chance to visit, definitely look at the statue and go to the Mothman Museum next door. Although it may not look exactly like the real Mothman, it's the idea that counts. Everyone in Point Pleasant is very friendly and you will enjoy the small city charm. The Mothman Festival is a lot of fun and you will learn a lot from the people you meet there. I have attended the Mothman Festival for the last 2 years and I hope to attend next year. There are other wonderful sites to visit while you are there too.
