The Domus is located in the eastern part of the ancient city.
The Domus, in fact, was considered a city house unlike the villa chec
it was a suburban house, with attached agricultural land.
Today what has come to light of the Domus is however a historical testimony of great value!

domus romana... richiusa in 4 mura ... sprecata ... prima di controlli e personale,. impossibile da visitare un reperto archeologico che fa storia .... pessimo il moto di gestire il turismo a santa maria c.v.

Gli scavi della Domus di via Degli Orti non sono ancora completi e furono avviati nel 1970. La domus risale al seco I° d.C. e, con buona probabilità , era la dimora di un dirigente locale. La casa su due lati è corredata da un giardino rettangolare con una sala da banchetto, probabilmente estiva, con pavimentazione in lastre di marmo di fronte alla quale si trova una fontana monumentale. Sui lati corti un piccolo porticato.

Meravigliosa Domus di famiglia facoltosa dell' epoca romana. Conservata non in ottime condizioni, ma consente di fare un tuffo nel passato e capire meglio come vivevano i ricchi dell' epoca. Ho dato il voto massimo perché il sito lo merita, ma è quasi sempre chiuso al pubblico e viene totalmente trascurato ed ignorato dal percorso turistico della città . Visitato in occasione de" la città sotto la città " nel 2014.

Questa antichissima Domus si trova nel pieno centro storico di Santa Maria Capua Vetere, chiusa da cancellate è impossibile da visitare.. dal esterno si può vedere tramite i cancelli lo spazio ed i resti sotto delle lamiere..
Un peccato le condizioni in cui versa e soprattutto la non curanza a cui viene sottoposta. In qualsiasi parte del mondo un attrazione del genere verrebbe valorizzata al massimo e porterebbe turisti da tutte le parti del mondo.. ma non qui..

Tipica casa romana, anche di un livello molto elevato, databile dal 1° al 4° secolo, trovata per caso negli anni '60 durante uno sbancamento per costruire una scuola.
Peccato che il terreno in cui si trova (peraltro in pieno centro) è sbarrato da un cancello chiuso e da lontano si vedono solo le tettoie protettive; il sito sembra inoltre abbandonato e i lavori di scavo apparentemente non ultimati.
