A great variety of plants to suit any garden
Aug 2018 • Couples
Have been coming here for years and its always a pleasure. Staff know exactly what they are talking about so if you you're not sure about any plant ask them before you buy. They will advise on plants that encourage bees and butterflies is you want to encourage them into your garden/ help them to survive. I have purchased plant from here that I never thought I could afford, but then this is a GARDEN NURSERY, not a GARDEN CENTRE and that makes a big difference with the quality and price of plants.

This small but amazing nursery had plants at every turn. The choice and prices were amazing. There was so much to choose from I will be back at some point.

Excellent Nursery
Jun 2017 • Couples
Please note: this is as its' name, a garden nursery .....been here for yonks and is not a garden centre full of expensive junk - just shrubs and plants of a good quality and reasonable cost. The ideal haunt to find something long lasting and different for your garden - go and explore it - amazing what you might find.

Excellent hidden find!!
May 2017 • Friends
Having loved in the locality nearly six years, I was surprised to be browsing through TripAdvisor for ideas to find that Dalston had a garden centre! Had never realised, and I went along with two local friends who had never been.
It was a refreshing change from the chain garden centres with rows of neat but questionable quality plants. You can just wander around and take it in, full of admiration of all the choice on offer in not a massive amount of space.
Definitely a place to visit to stock up on plants! I went back and bought a mini rhododendron and azalea, neither of which I'd seen elsewhere other than in very expensive larger forms. Very competitive prices. I'll be back!!!

Wonderful collection of unusual hostas

Quite by chanceI found this gem whilst visiting Dalston Church. Lovely collection of well grown plants that you know will survive the rigours of Cumbrian weather. Super range of unusual hostas that I am going to have to go back and sample again and again

Good range of healthy plants at reasonable prices
Jun 2016 • Friends
There are so many varieties of geraniums, hostas and other hardy perennials. At different times in the season there are a large range of plants with seasonal interest. There is a section for smaller alpines and a selection of herbs. Green houses contain less hardy plants There are also a selection of good smaller plants at only £2 which can be potted on. It is possible to see some of the plants growing in the surrounding gardens. The owners are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the plants they grow. It is a delight for any gardener.

Great collection of perennial plants
May 2016 • Couples
Opposite the church in Dalston, this independent nursery grows a large selection of perennial plants. I have bought many plants for my garden over the last 15 years and they always produce good plants.

If you are looking for a rare treasure come here

My wife and I visited this nursery a couple of weeks ago and were warmly received by the owner Steve with absolutely no pressure AT ALL to buy plants but simply encouraged to walk around this larger than average nursery admiring the autumn colour of the late-flowering herbaceous perennials. Visitors would be advised to email or telephone prior to visiting this place because whilst it does sell unusual geraniums, hostas and daylilies in particular, if you want a named variety it is better to telephone the obliging Stephen Hickson. This place is well centred for nearby country walks and there are a couple of good eateries on the nearby village green. Please remember that thie is a nursery not a garden centre as such so there are no fripperies here such as loo roll covers or crafts........just a lot of delightful plants with a slightly eccentric but warmly welcoming owner !!
