In the far southeastern corner of Poland, the Bieszczady National Park is far from major population centers in Poland, and so it is usually uncrowded. That's good, because the wild animals are plentiful there, and can surprise a visitor in an unexpected encounter.
I was not blessed with such an encounter, but I hiked up to the top of Mt. Tarnica, and it was well worth the 2-hour trek to get there.
I enjoyed stunning vistas and felt like I was in a very special place.
Follow the posted signs and don't get off track and wander up to the border with Ukraine, however, or you will spend some time in the back of a Polish Border Patrol vehicle as the officers fill out reams of paperwork (and fine you 50 Zlotys)! ;)

This is unbelivable place in Poland. Great mountains to climb, beautiful views on tops and a lot of people to meet ;)

This place is stunning. A hard climb but nothing compared to Zakopane! Beautiful views and a great culture!

A very remote part of Poland. Not a high mountain range. Worth visiting for great trekking paths. Perfect for early fall when it's still warm dry and trees are yellow and red.
Also the wooden architecture of the area is amazing - mainly orthodox churches.
Also worth vising - artificial lake Solina.

If you want to find more beautiful place in Beskidy - good luck but I'm sure that isn't possible. Bieszczady was first on the list "must see again" and from that time I come back there every time. Keep calm and go to Bieszczady!

A lot of trekking paths, both in the forrest and on the "Polonine". Not to much people. Cleaner and nicer than in many other tourist places in Poland.

Hi. How can one reach the park from Krakow since I cannot find busses or trains which I can use. We would like to spend at least 2 days. Thanks.

Is there public transportation to the park? If so, from where? Can one get around the park without a car?
Where are some good places to stay near the park?

PT runs everyday so don't worry. You can start in Wetlina, Smerek, Cisna, Wolosate, Ustrzyki Gorne. There you find starting points to many hiking paths. A car isn't essential but remember that hiking trails are long, beautiful and breathtaking. Do not hesitate and come for it.
