About
The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is home to more than 80 beautiful and unusual owls and other birds of prey. Between Easter & September, we give three flying displays daily, each featuring different birds. There is also a woodland walk featuring red squirrels and "Meerkat Kastle", the home to our resident tribe of desert dwellers. Our picnic areas are scattered throughout the centre. Children are catered for with an inclusive play area, mini-maze, a free S.O.S. Safari activity with a gift for all young participants, and other games & activities. In addition we run a selection of falconry courses and photo days which allow great access to the birds - these are very popular with keen photographers. There is full wheelchair access to the Sanctuary throughout.

Fantastic place to visit with our 2 year old grandson. So many owls , eagles , meerkats, and other birds to view . Staff all very knowledgeable and friendly. No flying displays currently but plenty to occupy our time including a toddler friendly indoor play area.

If you like birds of prey I would strongly recommend a visit. With Covid-19 we booked on line and we were greeted within the gift shop. The majority of the birds are now kept in large Averies . As well as birds of prey you can also see Meerkats, Red Squirrels and rabbits. We spent over two hours on site and is well worth the entrance fee.

Lovely little place.

Really hit the jackpot with the weather which was a massive bonus as naturally the majority of the sanctuary is open ground/outside.

The sanctuary itself is well kept with a simple yet effective route to follow.

The member of staff who presented at Meerkat Castle was enthusiastic and also humorous (more adult based humour).

The bird show is very well put together and informative and you can see the audience were captivated most of the time with how they train the birds to fly just above your head and around the crowd.

All staff within the sanctuary were polite and happy to answer any questions.

My six year old had a great day.

Would definitely recommend to anyone should they be thinking of visiting.

Fab few hours spent here. So many amazing birds of prey and awesome flying display. Very knowledgable staff and funny tongue in cheek information supplied throughout. Clean, friendly and blatantly well looked after. Thank you will be visiting again

Six middle aged friends visited the sanctuary and all agreed that it was great value for money and a superb attraction. The name of the attraction is misleading as there is so much more to see than just owls. There are many other species of birds of prey and other small animals. There are many species of birds on show and the displays were so informative and interesting that we returned for the second display a few hours later, which showed different species of birds in action. Just a really great way to spend a couple of hours.

Had never been here before so didn’t really know what to expect. Really lovely sanctuary with informative staff who clearly love what they do. The birds all look well looked after (although it does make you a little sad seeing such beautiful and sometimes enormous birds kept confined)
Watched both flying shows which had different birds each time, excellent shows well worth watching. Although we don’t have small children they are certainly well catered for and I think would have a great time here. Will definitely visit again.

A great day out. Sunday morning spent walking around the car boot, then the Owls sanctuary for the Meerkat talk. Interesting talk, could watch the social network in action. Lots of happy and well looked after birds to look at,.then the crafty shops outside and refreshments. Back to the sanctuary for the bird display, again very interesting, talks given whilst a really up close display of the magnificent birds. Went back out after the bird display to explore more shops. Went back for the second bird display, great day out. Thank you

This weekend I took part in the photography course. I would recommend this course as you able to get close to the birds and you learn things about your camera too.

When we read that most visitors spend over 3 hours here we couldn’t believe it…. we never spend a long time in places but did manage 2 1/2 hours here! This was due to the excellent flying display and the meerkat talk. There is a large display of a range of birds from owls and falcons to woodland birds. Worth a visit.
