Booked this ceramics studio for a group of 6 friends to have a days pottery experience on a Sunday.
It was a really fun day.
The day ran from 10 - 4:30.
We learnt how to use the potters wheel in the morning and then did handmade pottery in the afternoon. Tea and coffee was provided during the day. We took sandwiches for lunch and hand a picnic in the grounds of the friary.
Our teacher Jill was amazing, so friendly, helpful and fun.
You can keep 5 pieces of pottery included in the price of £80 , and use as much as you need to throughout the day. They will glaze and fire these twice and you collect after about 5 weeks.
I’m hoping all our works survives the kiln!

If you're looking for a place that offers an hours peace from daily life then Aylesford Priory should be on your list to visit.
I've spent many, many hours at Aylesford Priory and it's my go-to place when I need some calm.
It's lovely to walk around the grounds, perhaps to light a candle for a loved one and explore the peace garden.
The grounds are beautifully maintained and there are many nooks and crannies to find. When the roses are out in bloom, the smell is divine.
Although it is a spiritual place, you don't have to be religious in order to enjoy the ambience.
The thing I love is there isn't an adventure playground there and I hope that never changes. I've always taken my young children there and they know to respect the quiet - and that's a good lesson for them to learn. If they're noisy, then we leave.
It's a place for quiet reflection and it's good everyone to have access to that.

I have visited the pottery so many times over the years and it represents great examples of English pottery by local master potters. Some of the glazes are unique to the Friary and are indicative of Medieval styles that many of us admire. The prices are highly competitive and could well represent a good investment. Friendly informative service alone guarantees a great afternoon out with the added bonus of the tranquil surroundings of the Friary which are a joy to explore.

We were very much looking forward to celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary (pottery) with a Raku Experience, but Aylesford Pottery ignored our multiple emails and telephone calls (I spoke with a gentleman who said they would call me back when available, twice, but to no avail). We are so disappointed and are not sure why they did not want our custom, especially as they were aware from our initial inquiry that this was to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Weeks later, when Alan finally did reply weeks later, he said the original date we requested was full and suggested we call if we wanted to book another date; however given how unresponsive they had been via telephone in the weeks leading up to Alan's email, we decided not to waste any more time with a business who gave such a negative and disinterested first impression.

My husband and I have visited twice now, once for a pottery day and once for a Raku experience. Both times we found ourselves surrounded by not only an amazingly beautiful and tranquil venue, but skilled and friendly potters who shared their passion for the ancient craft. We'll definitely be returning.

I was given a day course with Aylesford Pottery & School of Ceramics as a Christmas present and it was well worth the wait! We went as a couple and joined a group of 10 to learn Japanese Raku pottery techniques. The day ran from 10am - 4pm in one of their well-equipped workshops; we had Alan teach us who was great fun, patient and gave us a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was a nicely paced day, split between decorating the pots and their time in the kiln. We had a number of glazes to experiment with, decorative stencils and shapes of pot and everyone left with 5 hand-glazed pieces (photos attached of our examples). The gift shop is so tempting, the prices are extremely reasonable and the work is testament to how talented the potters are.
The Pottery is located on site at Aylesford Priory which is a beautiful place to explore on the lunch break.

Fantastic 5* experience and would absolutely recommend as a day out for families, friends or couples.

We went to the pottery while on a trip home from Canada. I bought salt and pepper pots from here 27 years ago and have used them every day since. This time I bought a beautiful coffee pot that matches the salt and pepper pots, plus I got some wonderful wall plaques. Billy gave me some very encouraging advise for me when doing my own pottery. What a wonderful place this is and in such beautiful grounds. We hope to visit again on our next visit home.

I bought three tickets to do this pottery course in the friary at Aylesford one for myself and two birthday presents one for my partner and a friend of ours, the best presents I could have bought we had a fantastic day learning to throw pots and making a jug, their was 11 in our group all really nice easy going people and the teacher Alan was a joy! Tea and coffee on tap a stop for lunch ( but we continued to throw some more pots!) really relaxed atmosphere, and we got to choose five of our creations to be glazed and fired and we can't wait to pick them up in three weeks time. And the friary grounds and buildings are fab really Recommend this place to learn pottery.
