My husband and I have visited twice now, once for a pottery day and once for a Raku experience. Both times we found ourselves surrounded by not only an amazingly beautiful and tranquil venue, but skilled and friendly potters who shared their passion for the ancient craft. We'll definitely be returning.

An amazing inner experience for those seeking to pass through life while life passes through you. The place is a peaceful retreat founded in the 13th century, it combines, history, culture, nature, people, and a very special blessed place with friendly priest and people.

Held every month, this is a great way of introducing children to pottery. As a parent, I was a little apprehensive about my four year old attending in terms of both concentration and using the tools. The assistance and inspiration provided was strong and kept my daughter engaged. We left with ideas for future projects and will be going back in the future. We have also books an adults course. I’ve already recommended to our friends,

I was given a day course with Aylesford Pottery & School of Ceramics as a Christmas present and it was well worth the wait! We went as a couple and joined a group of 10 to learn Japanese Raku pottery techniques. The day ran from 10am - 4pm in one of their well-equipped workshops; we had Alan teach us who was great fun, patient and gave us a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It was a nicely paced day, split between decorating the pots and their time in the kiln. We had a number of glazes to experiment with, decorative stencils and shapes of pot and everyone left with 5 hand-glazed pieces (photos attached of our examples). The gift shop is so tempting, the prices are extremely reasonable and the work is testament to how talented the potters are.
The Pottery is located on site at Aylesford Priory which is a beautiful place to explore on the lunch break.

Fantastic 5* experience and would absolutely recommend as a day out for families, friends or couples.

Bill was great company and very skilful. His story telling added to our day. We were a group of 14 people. He was unhurried, clear in his instruction and very engaging. Highly recommend if you are looking to do something different.

Even if you are not scratching your head to find a birthday or thank you present, then this is a good place to head for. A good choice of beautiful and useful pottery in a peaceful setting that makes you feel better for the visit. The potters are always helpful, friendly and never pushy. You can commission pieces from them and its all excellent value. You can find out about doing pottery courses and on Saturday they do a drop in session.

Great old fashioned potters. Great shop with some really fantastic things within. You can sign up to classes as well if you want to have a gone. Remember to take bread for the geese on the pond. Great place for a picnic as well. Loads of parking

You will find a small cosy pottery just by the car park of Friars. There is a shop on front of it selling plates and cups and terracotta pots and other goodies made right there in the pottery. They are all really nice and would perfectly fit in country house design. You can actually see work in progress at the background of the shop. At the time there was only one smiling man potter and a lady who looked like a bookkeeper at the front desk. All their work looks fantastic. Go there if you want to buy some unique stuff and they also offer workshops for kids etc. Just make sure to contact them in advance. It is a bit warm in there.
