About
The Domaine Virgile Joly is situated in one of the best areas of the South of France: the Appellation d'Origine Controlee (AOC) Coteaux du Languedoc - St Saturnin, which includes the communes of Saint Saturnin, Jonquieres, St Guiraud and Arboras. The grape varieties include Grenache (white and red), Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault, all of which are cultivated organically, with an average natural yield of 30 hl/ha. Combined with the richness of the Mediterranean climate, the land is worked with total respect for the environment, which allows the Domaine Virgile Joly to produce straightforward and sincere wines with a rich palette of aromas.

Great wine Tasting
Sep 2016 • Couples
We had a private tasting with Camille and learned a lot about Languedoc wine. She knew her stuff and spoke very good English! Their Joly red is an easy drinkable red and quite reasonable! Thanks Camille!

Lovely experience

Having originally met Virgile several years ago, in the UK, at a Naked Wine event ,it was a delight to meet him again especially during the busy harvest period. Virgile's passion for wine and his twinkly eyed smile initially impressed my wife, the quality of the fantastic wine soon had me convinced too! We have been regular customers for many years. We have always wanted to see where our delicious wine came from and planned our holiday around a visit. Sadly we do not have a French bank account and so we could not book a tour in advance, however, Camillle opened the tasting room for us and was very knowledgeable about the wines and their production. A great opportunity to try all the very distinctive wines. Definitely worth a visit and an excellent opportunity to fill the car up with new and exciting wines that are not available in the UK. I am already planning our next trip and will definitely take a tour of the winery. and visit Le Pressoir restaurant again.

One of the best winery visits I've done
Sep 2016 • Couples
I contacted the Domaine via their website before I travelled to France. I'd tried Virgile's wines on the Naked Wines website in the UK and I was keen to meet the man behind the wines.

They offer a number of wine tour packages. We opted for a tour of the winery, followed by a tasting and then lunch at the restaurant over the road from the cave, Le Pressoir.

I do speak some french having learnt it for 7 years at school, but all correspondence was in English and when we met the team in France, everything was conducted in perfect English.

The tour took us around some of the beautiful vineyards, onto the winery and then finally to the tasting rooms. Despite it being the harvest, Virgile was kind enough to spend quite a lot of time with us. He let us taste some of the 2 day old grape juice which was surprisingly sweet and very refreshing. We also tried some that had been fermenting for a few days.

We were allowed to try all the wines in his range and there were no thimble-sized measures either. All the wines were delicious and very distinguished.

The whole experience was really, really great. Perfect for both those who have a keen interest in wine production and also for those who are complete novices. We learnt a great deal about wines and grapes of the Langue-Doc region and also about the principles of producing biodynamic wines. The whole region was absolutely stunning and I left feeling very, very jealous and wanting to sack my job in and move to France!

The meal at Le Pressoir was fabulous also.

We were passing through and stopped for a tasting. Beringer opened the tasting room for us and gave us a good orientation about the winery.the wines were excellent and we found him to be very knowledgeable and informative. We particularly enjoyed the Virgil Rouge!! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Great little visit
We dropped by unannounced on a Wednesday in early March, yet Christophe was still kind enough to arrange a little tasting session for us, and to talk about the vineyard. He was very friendly and accommodating, and it goes without saying that Virgile's wines are fantastic - I've bought his wines many times before through Naked Wines. Next time we'll book a full tour in advance - €50 secures an extensive tour, with tasting and a lunch. Merci, et à bientôt!

Best wines

Virgile makes some of the best wines in the area and they are organic which makes the production even harder.

Worth a visit.
