I’ve visited Zhovkva specially to see this wooden church. It’s worth. The church belongs to the UNESCO world heritage along with 7 other wooden churches in Western Ukraine, but this one is nearest to Lviv of them.

In the village of Zhovkva (1/2 from Lviv), there is a wooden church made with no nails, and amazing interior. The church was built in 1720 after the original burnt down in 1717.

The church is not easy to find, at the end of a bumpy road starting from the town of Zhovkva. Anyway, once you'll be there, your efforts will be highly compensated. The views of the small lake and the surrounding countryside are gorgeous, and the church itself is spectacular, located on the top of a small hill. An English panel just before the bridge to acess the tsverka explains the interesting story of the village.

Beautiful Well preserved wood church about 30-45 minuts drive from Lviv, near the Polish border. A great Day out from Lviv. A few other interesting sights in the small town also.

This orthodox church is located to the east of the town - from the main square take main route east, past the big church on your left, and two junctions further down you will see this wooden marvel on your right. No organised car park, just leave your car on one of the side roads. Even if you're not lucky enough to see the interior of the church you should take every effort to visit this place, as it's architecture is just stunning. And we managed to get in, as it was still open after the morning service - and all the wall paintings, the iconostasis, and all the climate of good old church is just unique. One of sixteen churches (eight in Poland and eight in Ukraine) inscribed onto UNESCO site in 2013 as Wooden tserkvas of the Carpathian region in Poland and Ukraine.
