Beautiful. Wish I had gotten inside to see the icons and other art (saw them years ago, and Wow!), but Covid… Definitely worth seeing and snapping a couple pics.

This is part of a seminary. Though not far -- only 2/10 mile -- from Holy Resurrection, it's hard to find by accident, with trees and two nearby multi-story structures blocking most far views of it. The two tiny onion domes are your best bet for spotting it. The chapel is kind of tucked under the bridge to Near Island. Just follow Mission Road from Holy Res.

The inside of his small chapel is a beautiful Russian style church that contains the remains of St Herman. He is a Russian priest who came to the island in 1764 & served the Lord & the people of the island. This chapel is worth a stop.

A historical landmark chapel that contains the remains of a Russian priest who came to Kodiak Island around 1764 and dedicated his life in the service of the Lord and support of the local Aleut indigenous people. St Herman was canonized in March 1867. It is a beautiful Russian style church. To this day there are many devotees that undertake the annual pilgrimage to this chapel on his his feast day.

This is within a stone's throw of the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge welcome center, the Baranov and the Alutiiq museum. Beautiful Russian Orthodox chapel. We were greeted by a clergyman who explained the significance of St. Herman (one of the four saints of Alaska) who stopped the tsunami wave and a storm. His remains are there. Beautiful artwork. Worth the few minutes to stop in and see.

I stayed at St. Herman's on a pilgrimage as an Orthodox Christian, all the Clergy, Monks and Matushka's were warm and inviting. Attending services at St. Herman's was a beautiful experience, we were truly blessed to be part of such an amazing community!

So much to see and our tour guide told us all sorts of information about this place. It is so small and the services were long can't imagine standing all that time.

This is a beautiful little chapel easily walked to. It provides insights to the history of Kodiak and Alaska. Inside are beautiful icons and outside is an interesting bell display.

One of the oldest landmarks in Kodiak, tours are possible, but it's hard to get a hold of someone. Working bell tower & they even get musical on Orthodox Holidays. A must check out if your in Kodiak.

Worth the trip up the hill to see the mixture of Alaskan and Russian religious heritage. Didn't know what to expect but it had a number of very interesting things to see.

the priests are very friendly when they saw me taking fotos outside and invited me to go inside. So beautiful, cute and you think you are in a church in Russia.
