What a find!
Jun 2021
Spectacular views for miles around. Great walk up to the area (via the forestry area) and to be greeted by this coming out of the wilderness was uplifting .

A Stunning Venue
Dec 2020
My wife and I spent 4 nights here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The drive up to the castle took our breath away and I don't think we would ever tire of the views from the top.

Absolutely awesome
Dec 2019 • Couples
I was so excited to stay in a castle and it definitely exceeded my expectations. It’s so affordable you must come and stay. It had a gorgeous apartment with fully equipped kitchen and amazing views. Access to the rooftop was even better for the views.

Short Break
Sep 2019 • Couples
I chose the Haldon to celebrate my partners Birthday and engagement. There are many positives to visiting and I pondered leaving a review as I didn't want to appear negative. But I think leaving some points for other visitors might prove useful.
The booking process was clear enough but the lack of communication and customer care was disappointing.
The venue was advertised as magical but the small personal touches that I wanted to add simply didn't exist..I asked for some information and also requested the possibility of champagne to be left in the apartment, the respomse was a few short impersonal words that it couldn't be done.
It's exciting booking somewhere unique , and being so far away it would have been nice to have some guidance, but that wasn't provided despite a few attempts.
We met the events organiser on our second day and was slightly confused that a few things couldn't have been organised. She was lovely, but the Lady I booked this through didn't advise that there was anyone who could have helped.
This venue would be a lovely ceremony location but the customer care skills need massive improvement. There has to be some understanding that customers are literally a bit naive about the surroundings.
This was our special day yet we were advised it might be a good idea to go visit some sights whilst a ceremony was taking place - that would have been common sense on our part, but being advised to keep out of the way was a little rude. It's a shame our special occasion wasnt taken into consideration.
We cut our journey short and offered the wedding party the apartment.
The location is fabulous, the views amazing and it comes to life during the night!.
Sadly it took the shine off our special occasion and we won't return which is sad.
I can't help feeling that if the customer care improved then so would the financial aspect and the visit would have indeed been magical.

A wedding at the Haldon Belvedere Castle
Jul 2019
From a photographers point of view. Easy to find just off the A38 south of Exeter . A short run though the wooded lanes by car GPS works well. Parking is not a problem and many views to see. Set on a hill you are able to see many miles from the top of the Castle and get some breath taking shots . Inside you find a spiral stair case but very tight just one at a go and start. Large room for the wedding with enormous windows plenty of light and high ceilings . Gardens are okay with most just grass with edging bushes. Nice little stone bridge if you take a 5 min trip down to the bottom of the grounds . Ian - Focus Weddings

Just the most amazing holiday apartment
Apr 2019 • Couples
The moment we spotted this property advertsed as available we knew we just had to stay, we were not dissapointed it is the most amazing place . The weather was everything from warm sunshine to snow in the week we stayed but we were so cosy in the really comfortable accomodation. The views from all of the windows are spectacular as is the roof terrance which due to the weather we didnt really get to fully apprecate. The kitchen is well equiped as is the bathroom. The Belvedere is well situated for visits to either Exeter, the coast or Haldon forest, so in summer it must be even better when you can enjoy the grounds. We will certainly return.

Get married
Apr 2018 • Solo
This is the perfect fairy-tale wedding venue. The building is splendid, the views spectacular and the setting a natural delight. For your wedding, there is even a private flat above the ceremony rooms. We married there and had 60 guests. The kitchen can cope and the tower will impress your guests. If you're single or already married.... just book the flat for one of the most peaceful, natural settings and your best sleep ever.

Unexpected find for a walk
Feb 2019 • Couples
We stumbled across Haldon Belvedere by pure chance. Albeit it closed at the moment (february) its worth the circular walks for the speculative views across Devon. Car park close. Loved it. Close moneys from Haldon Forest for more extensive walking.

3 day stay in January
Jan 2019 • Couples
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights as a complete surprise for me. Wonderful drive up to a sunlit castle. Everything was lovely. The only slight issue was the very cold bathroom but it was January and it is a castle and we did get used to it. We even got used to the 70+ stairs to the Apartment at the top. The kitchen is well equipped. Ice bucket, toast rack, tea pot & proper cups and saucers and even a knife sharpener, things you don't usually find. There was a large pack of ice in the freezer (most welcome) and complimentary carton of milk. We had a storm one night and the wind howled and howled but the castle felt very safe. Quite a unique experience for us and we plan to go back, maybe not in January though! The lady who arranged our booking was very helpful.
