Unfortunately the museum was closed on a Monday ( the day we visited) and dredging works meant we couldn't do the complete trail.

Parked in the long stay carpark which is not too far from the locks. Well maintained. Good museum manned by enthusiastic volunteers.

Great place to visit and it is very busy with boats and the public going for a wander and having a little history lesson at the same time. If on a boat do allow plenty of time as boats have to book in with lockmaster and we waited about 90 mins to be taken through first time but coming back up we got lucky being last boat in and did the locks in record time of about 35 minutes rather than the more normal 45 minutes. There’s a lovely little cafe at top lock and a couple of pubs with great views over canal. They do lock the locks so don’t be thinking you can sneak through on your boat as you really can’t. Really picturesque area with great views from top lock over beautiful English landscape

Lived in Leicester 30 yrs ago and this was one of my favourite places to cycle out to from the city. Always loved being around the Locks and watching the barges going up and down the nine locks. It was also lovely to see the walkways had been extended and the cantilevered rails also now on view. Still a lovely place to visit and being with friends who o knew back then made the day even more special.

One piece of advice bring a picnic the pub is a rip off.
