BangKhaChao is also known as Bangkok's "Green Lung", and is known for bicycle rides (cycles can be rented locally for less than 3 USD a day). But manage your expectations! Yes, the area has more green than Bangkok Town (not hard to do), but you will not end up in a Europe-style forest. It looks more like a rural Thai village, where you have a mix of houses, roads, some green parts. You bike on the roads together with the cars (not much traffic) or on some narrow (1m wide) concrete paths constructed along the canals. You will not get the feeling of biking inside a forest! The biggest attraction seems to be the local "floating market". The market has mainly food items (mainly ready to eat) and makeshift restaurants, but there is nothing "floating" to be seen. The market is simply along a canal, which you would not even notice if you did not know. The market seems very popular with the locals. Open on Sunday (I do not know about other days)

Don't be fooled by the PR for this place. Everywhere you look, in the water and mud on this artificial island, there is plastic waste. No local people or staff apparently give a hoot. Such a sad fact.

It was a pleasant trip to spend at Wat Bangnampheng weekend market. It was my first time to visit Bangkachao via public transportation by crossing Chaophya river at Wat Bangna Nok pier. The ferry cost was 6 Baht per person connecting with public two row truck/ mini bus (Rod Song Taew ) at a cost of 10 Baht. The minibus brought me to the heart of weekend market.
You can find a lot of stuffs to purchase, especially, OTOP and local food and drinks. I also spent an hour with a side walk massage parlor at 300 Baht per hour, so relaxing.
Using a public transportation could save me a lot of time/ money and save our environment comparing to driving car passing many bridges with a higher toll fee and gasoline cost.
