This is the grandest of the Royal Tombs around Hue. It was for the final king (before the one who abdicated in WWII). It is quite steep on many levels, so be prepared for steps. Beautiful decoration.

This was one of the three tombs we did with our guide. Nine kilometres from Hue. Again steep steps leading up to the tomb and lovely views out over the valley. The tomb was built for the 12th King of the Nguyen Dynasty. He was not a popular emperor, he actually increased taxes by 30% to pay for his tomb,... More

The tomb site was an interesting mix of Vietnamese and European design. Very grand and lavish. Worth a visit.

Really liked the architecture in this palace. Great for pictures and understanding of some brief history of the imperial rule. Went without a guide as there were english sign boards and it's not a big place so no chance of getting lost.

We took a cab from Hue to see this & the Tomb of Minh Mang (cab was 300D one way & we got a private boat back ($20). Lots to see here, but the most modern Tomb so lots of concrete used in construction & less "authentic" than the others (IMHO). 100D entry fee, & worth doing as part of... More

This was our second favorite tomb, due to it being quite different from the others. Built into the side of the hill it's a steep climb but well worth it. The palace with the actual tomb in it is spectacular and colorful and you can take photos. Don't miss this one.

Ornate, strangely beautiful tomb. The TA pictures do it justice. My favorite of all the emperors tombs. Could be because it is the most 'modern' and build for a truly bazaar man. The ceramic mosaic work is quite stunning. Anyway, if you visit only one tomb visit this one. However the other tombs are interesting in and of themselves. It... More

Of the 3 tombs around the imperial palace of Hue this is the mlst beautiful. Perhaps because it is the newest the stonework hasn't eroded away. This tomb get rather busy I would suggest getting there earlier. But don't skip this one out!!!

The mausoleum the 12th Emperor of Vietnam built for his repose is luxurious, splendid, marbled, bejeweled in parts, well worth seeing on a day trip to Hue. The emperor only reigned for a short span (1916-1925) and has been dubbed by locals as the "puppet emperor" of the French. The mandarin statues at the base are spectacular. The artist is... More

I know that many tombs look similar, but this one has amazing stonework and statues that alone are worth the visit. I highly recommend.
