Service was brilliant, ferry was on time. The weather was very bad the day we sailed so sea conditions were rocky. Staff on board kept calm and made sure everyone was doing O.K and put them at ease. We booked the trip to Inisheer and Cliffs combination and unfortunately due to weather conditions, the cliffs were cancelled (no complaints). Staff on board advised me to go to the office at Doolin pier to claim a refund. I was met by 2 friendly staff members who told me that I would be refunded on the cliffs part of the booking and to also hold onto my ticket that if I was ever back in Doolin that we could to the cliffs for free which I thought was very kind. There probably is not much of a difference between the different companies that offer this service but for the staff of Doolin2Aran alone, I would definitely recommend them. My only advice would be try to sail on a calm / dry day

Given the weather at hand, the Ferry was packed to the hilt, but left on time to reach Inis Mor, and had a wonderful experience inland. On the way back to InishMor to Doolin was a very interesting experience, the skies were clear with Sun belting down mad, out of nowhere a ring of Fog made its way along the path of travel by the Ferry. Suddenly we are in the midst of the waters with zero visibility and everyone onboard were wondering about safe landing, but the Ferry crew knew their job hands-on, did not panic, took awhile but managed to reach us to the pier safe and sound, much to the relief of the packed crowd on the Ferry!
Job well done!!

Hi Globe_traveller_7213 This spell of fine weather has brought the occasional sea fogs which are certainly bizarre as they seem to come out of nowhere! But as you said, our captains and #BlueCrew and very well-trained and the new ships have excellent navigational equipment on board. Thank you for your kind comments!

We did cruise from Doolin on 20 April. I had liaised with Doolin2Aran Ferries a few times leading up to our trip to check capacity & closer to the time , the weather. My e mails were responded to promptly & the 1st gauge I use about a Company's service. I made no booking in advance due to Ireland's unpredictable weather. Arrived 30mins before 1st cruise at 12 noon , parked right at the Doolin Pier close to the office , bought our tickets & advised to wait down at the Pier. The boat arrived & left on time , think it takes around 160 passengers. There is an upper open deck & lower closed deck. We had a few swells heading out but nothing major & as we headed towards Hags Head we were given a bit of a talk about the Cliffs , birdlife , rock composition. There were plenty of birds , including the Puffins we really wanted to see. Earlier the morning we did the Cliff walks & to see it from the sea gives one an appreciation of the magnitude of these Cliffs , amazing . The cruise back was more gentle as the wind was behind us. Great views of Hags Head , o' Brien's Tower , the Harry Potter movie cave & a waterfall running into the sea. The Aran Islands were also visible in the distance , we only did the Cliffs of Moher cruise but there are combos available or single trips.Visibility was good which created some great photos &memories. Overall we had a very good experience with Doolin2Aran Ferries ,there were life jackets on board as well as dinghy's in case of emergencies

I took the ferry from Doolin to Inis Mor and back. Based on the website, I thought there would be sufficient COVID measures in place. However, it’s fair to say they were non existent. Every seat on the ferry was full with no social distancing possible - even inside where there was well in excess of the 50 people limit currently permitted. Even though masks were to be worn, this wasn’t enforced (with multiple travellers not wearing them) and the majority of staff wore theirs incorrectly (noses not covered). There is no queuing system, or even attempt to promote social distancing, on the pier on the island. The measures taken are completely inadequate. It’s the only place on our trip where I felt unsafe. So much so that we disembarked when we returned to Doolin instead of doing the Cliffs of Moher cruise that we had already paid for. In these current times I absolutely could not recommend this company.

HI Rebecca We are sorry you did not enjoy your sailing experience with us. We are implementing all of the safety requirements that we can and that are under our control. In the height of the season these were pushed to their limits and I apologise if you felt they were inadequate. We are doing the very best we can to cope with the huge influx of visitors to Doolin and it has put a strain on operations. These are the procedures we have in place: We received guidelines from the Department of the Marine for Off-shore ferries. This states a 100 passenger limit on confined spaces on the ferry and we are working to that limit. All of our passengers are instructed to wear masks and all of our crew are wearing masks. We also inform all of our passengers that social distancing is NOT always possible on board, and if they are not comfortable with that, then they can have a full refund. We are no longer carrying bicycles on board to maximise space on the ships for passengers to move about. We have hand saintising stations on board all of our ships and in our booking offices. On Doolin pier, working with Clare County Council, we have implemented a proper queuing system and passengers are socially distanced boarding. Unfortunately we do not have the same council cooperation on Inis Oirr pier and it did lead to congestion during the busy bank holiday. I hope that it is apparent from the other reviews we receive that we have always tried to give our passengers a great sailing experience and we will continue to do this.

So we booked the 11:00am boat to Inisheer. We arrived in Doolin with loads of time to spare. We queued for ages. They filled the 11am Boat and told us that another boat would be along soon. Next boat eventually left at 11:45am which was unfortunate as our return journey was booked for 1:45pm so this reduced our time on the island significantly. No explanation just a shrug of the shoulders. No big deal I suppose. Please be aware folks THERE IS NO SOCIAL DISTANCING on these boats. we managed to sit outside but we were still on top of each other. I would have thought they’d be operating on a reduced capacity but every single seat was full. I was surprised and a bit annoyed by it. Definitely it felt too close for comfort. 100% mask wearing compliance but still on top of one another. Trip home included a cruise of the cliffs of moher. Not one single announcement in relation to the cliffs. The staff did make some announcements on the way back which included the staff member removing his mask and shouting to be heard. People sitting in close contact to him were clearly uncomfortable about this. Overall they are decent people operating in a difficult environment but Customers need to know what they are getting into. I’d say it was average service at best

Thank you for your feedback - we especially appreciate that you acknowledge the very difficult circumstances we find ourselves working in. There has been an amazing response from Irish staycationers coming to Doolin in huge numbers which is very welcome, but this has added pressure to our services and occasionally departure times have been affected, so we apologise for that. We would like to thank the public for their overwhelming response, not only in supporting our operations in a hugely difficult year but in observing the public health guidelines and measures we have put in place. We have implemented COVID 19 safety protocols by maintaining social distancing while queuing to board the vessels, providing hand sanitiser stations throughout the vessels and our boarding office and by insisting on face coverings while travelling on our ships. This is not mandatory under government regulations, but we have made it a requirement on board our ships, as we accept that social distancing is not always feasible. We have also reduced our capacity on the interior decks. We appreciate the time you took to give your comments and we will do our very best to improve our service where we can.

The boat ride to Inis Oirr was beautiful and went smoothly. But we had booked a Inis Oirr-Cliffs of Moher combo ticket, only to find out that the Cliffs of Moher boat ride was cancelled without notice on the ship. Everyone that had booked it was confused as there was no email or anything about this sent to anyone before hand. Thankfully they did give a refund to people no questions asked at the desk, it was still ridiculous to not tell anyone in advance. However, I still had a positive experience otherwise and would recommend the ferry for visiting the Aran Islands from Doolin, and would recommend visiting the island of Inis Oirr to anyone as it was genuinally one of the most beautiful places I have seen.

Loved this trip - getting to experience the islands and the cliffs in one day worked very well. Dined at Tigh Ned which was lovely. A must do for every tourist!

Note for management - The boat team ensured everyone took hand sanitising measures on the way out but not on the way back so I’d suggest to the management that they address this immediately. Also each seat downstairs (on the boat on the way over ) was full which surprised me as I’d expected distancing measures to be applied. I felt very uncomfortable as it was very tightly packed.

Hi Deirdre, We are glad you enjoyed your trip to Inis Oirr and the cliffs with us. Sorry you felt uncomfortable on the outward journey, this is a short journey and we do insist on all passengers wearing face masks as social distancing is not always possible. There are several hand sanitising stations throughout the ships as well as on the gangways, and our crew will do their best to get everyone to use as frequently as possible, but people are free to use them whenever they want and must take responsibility to do so themselves. We will continue to practice our COVID safety regime and work on improving it where possible

Very disorganised at the port , we booked online and the boat was over booked deliberately , ended up waiting much longer for the boat. I would never travel again with company. Obriens looked much more organised and less busy. Staff were very unhelpful and all they did was blame covid for the lack of spaces on the boat which was a blatant lie. We have been on several ferries this summer and this was the worst by far

I am sorry you experienced poor service on your trip. Doolin has had a huge influx of staycationers, which has led to traffic problems at the pier. Passengers have found if difficult to get parking and run late. With extra demand, we put on extra sailings at similar departure times, but please be aware that we NEVER overbook deliberately on any of our sailings. You travelled with us during one the busiest week we have ever experienced, which did put pressure on our operation schedules and staff. I hope you enjoyed to visit to Inis Oirr and that you will give us another opportunity to show that this is not the normal customer service for us.

This was the best way to get to the islands and for a few more euros you can do the tour of the cliffs. I recommend going later in the afternoon when the sun is getting lower on the horizon which provides spectacular picture opportunities. Time your trip of going to the islands so you return on the last boat run. Better get your sea legs on though!

The best view is from the top of the boat and the waves are unpredictable so you might get jostled around or motion sick if your not used to it. This is no fault of the ship captain. There is also historical information that is shared so it’s not just a viewing tour. Well worth the few extra euros in addition to your fare to the islands.

Got the ferry from Doolin to Inis Oirr. Massive queue in Doolin and very little social distancing (not the companies fault)
What was really disappointing was the boat trip. It was packed. People were walking around the boat. We were on the bottom deck and people were standing on top of us while we were sitting there. No seats in the boat were closed off. The boat seemed to be operating at full capacity
Everyone was wearing masks. Nice clean boat but I am disappointed in the Garrihys greed. Close off a few seats and tell people to sit down. Numbers are going up and after taking this boat journey it was easy to see why

Hi, we are sorry you were not happy with your trip. The August bank holiday was an extremely busy time and our crew were working hard to keep passengers following out COVID protocols. We do have reduced seating, following the guidelines issued by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport which advises on limiting seating in enclosed areas to 100 people, which we have done. Anyone travelling with us is offered a full refund right up to the time they board if they feel uncomfortable. We will continue to work hard to implement our safety protocols and will definitely take your feedback on board.
