About
Christy Barry and his partner Sheila have entertained friends and musicians at their home for many years, sitting around the fire playing music and telling stories. Although the pub sessions are extremely popular they realized that many of their visitors preferred to listen to traditional music in the intimate environment of their home. As a result of this they decided to open up their atmospheric home to visitors so they can experience local Irish music in the relaxed surroundings of their home. Christy talks and discusses the history of traditional Irish music and plays great tunes. Visitors can enjoy the experience of visiting a local home, enjoying local company and listening to a good traditional music session around the fire. Sheila is an artist and her works surround the rooms in the house creating a truly art home atmosphere.

Doolin Music House is a must if you are visiting Doolin or any of the surrounding towns in Clare. Sheila was a fantastic host and made sure we were well looked after during our visit. Christy and James are a great duo and it was incredibly endearing listening to their stories of years past accompanied with traditional Irish music. If you’re looking for an authentic Irish experience with some fun, laughter, and history, then you must book Doolin Music House. They’ve also got everything sorted so that you are distanced from others who are not in your group and with sanitiser etc about the place.

A tip: if you’re not driving I recommend you book a taxi well in advance unless you’re within walking distance. This is the case in most rural towns in Ireland.

My favorite experience in doolin! It was a very nice experience meeting such talented poeple and seeing how much music means to them! The history behind the music is very interesting, and some sad moments that make you appreciate how far the Irish have come.
They played very beautifully!
My son had found a small instrument earlier that day at a thrift shop and took it with him to show them. When he showed Chris the instrument he asked my son to join them for a session! My son was soo stoked and the other guests really enjoyed seeing that wholesome experience.

The Doolin music house is a must do
experience while visiting Doolin! It was an absolute pleasure to hear Christy and his friends play local tunes. The pride and respect Christy has for music is shown while he plays and also through the way he tells stories. It was a true honor to attend the session. We also really enjoyed getting to talk with Sheila. She provided an assortment of local cheese and crackers that were fantastic along with wine to sip on throughout the event.  This was a true highlight of our honeymoon and next time we're back in town this will be the number one thing to do on our list!

We spent our entire 16 day trip looking for "trad" at pub after pub. Finally found it here! Lovely, intimate experience in their home hearing wonderful music and enjoying stories of the music and the people. Also, just the right length of time for the evening.

We had a fantastic evening of music with Christy & James. With wonderful hospitality from Sheila. Our group had kids & teens and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I could not recommend this highly enough. A beautiful way to spend an evening in Doolin. Thanks again. We will definitely be back.

We traveled to Doolin from the U.S. because our Dad wanted to immerse himself in Irish Music. Doolin Music House entirely delivered. Our evening was fun, educational, and the music could make you weep with joy and sorrow. More than just entertaining, Christy, James and Sheila made it a night to treasure.

After five months of overseas travel, I am finally writing a long overdue review of our magical evening at the Doolin Music House. My wife and I have long desired to visit Ireland and experience first hand traditional Irish music that we love so much. We are indeed fortunate that we followed a suggestion to spend an evening at Doolin Music House for an intimate musical experience. And what an incredible privilege it was to enjoy Christy and James’ superb musicianship, Christy’s storytelling and Shelia’s warm, welcoming hospitality not to mention the delicious refreshments she provided.

We wish to thank Shelia and Christy for sharing their lovely home and for providing a very special memory that we will long cherish. For anyone who is visiting Doolin do not miss the opportunity to spend an evening at the Doolin Music House.

We made a reservation to go to the Doolin Music House, home of Christy Barry hoping for an authentic Irish music experience. We got that and so much more! Christy and Sheila open up their home and hearts to allow visitors to experience traditional Irish music and to learn about music history particularly in this part of County Clare. Joined by fellow musician Sean, a fiddler, Christy enchanted us with his flute and together they performed using their instruments, spoons and wonderful stories. Sheila, an artist, is both talented and delightful. Her efforts to whet our appetite with local treats was greatly appreciated. We had so much fun that we followed Christy and co. to O'Connors Pub in Doolin and stayed for over 2 hours of sensational music. Do not miss this unique opportunity if you travel in this area.

Doolin Music House is an intimate setting for authentic Irish music. The small venue makes you fell part of the music. The storytelling was fun, snacks, good and music wonderful. A great night in Doolin.
