Very relaxed atmosphere, beautiful park with lots of deer and peacocks. stroll through the park to the lake and just relax. Castle is interesting but the park and water are the main attraction.

The castle park is pleasant walk for a couple, family or just with friends. What you should not miss is the "Oh My Deer Cafe" at the central forecourt. The outstanding customer service and products will make plesant ending of your walk and will encourage you to return for a great coffee or cake again.

Been to the Zamek Blatna several times and enjoy taking grand kids there. Very nice grounds with water. Animals to feed inside. Some kind of deer. Peacocks and other birds on the grounds. Carp in the water. Be sure to bring dried bread or other food for the deer and carp. 25 Kron to enter and you need the coin or can purchase a entry paper to put in the new machine. They have somone on duty if you have any problems. Nice walking trail either short or long. Not a lot to see in the castle but enjoyable. They have a restaurant on premises. WC available. Parking off street.

A really wonderful castle to visit, only an hour outside of Prague, with activities suitable for all family members. Among other things are guided tours of the premises, a coffe break at the little café or deer patting in the park things that you can enjoy here. Definitely worth a visit!

The beginnings of the “castle’ date back to 13. century, however the only remains discovered are of a romanesque chapel. Since then it has expanded, has been rebuilt, burned down and rebuilt again by its many owners, acquiring the present form in the 19th century. The property has been confiscated from the Hildprandt family after WWII, and returned to them in 1989. Some renovations of the main castle and the grounds are ongoing, with the relatives actually living on the property.
We bought tickets for an extended tour, which included a newly renovated terrace overlooking the beautiful castle grounds. During the 1 hour plus guided tour we saw rooms nicely decorated in baroque, empire and oriental styles, bedrooms, music/ gallery, game, dinning and hunting rooms, a small library and a study of J.E. Purkyne, who worked as an educator for the Hildprandt children. Although we enjoyed learning of the castle’s history, it was boring toward the end for my 10 y/o grandson, who could not wait to get to the park and feed the tame deer, out in full force even though it rained on and off. Food for the deer can be bought at the ticket office, 10 Kc per small bag, which is sufficient for taking your feeding deer pictures. We bought 2 and ended up sharing with other children. My grandson enjoyed a walk through the park, with old trees, streams and footbridges, the building, where some members of the Hildprandt family still live, and free roaming peacocks. The are public restrooms on the property, have 2 kc ready. We also saw a coffee shop, it did not visit.

The castle is located in a lovely park with "wild living" deer's and birds. You can walk through the part and there is also a small museum inside the castle.

After a tiring day in Prague, our friends took us to this magical place. The castle is beautiful on the outside, we did not have a chance to see it from inside, as arrived after 17H on a Saturday. The grounds are very green and numerous peacocks and deer are the hosts of the woods. You can feed them with seeds or vegetables. They are very friendly and noble.

The Czech Republic is a beautiful country with a lot to see outside of Prague. Blatna is a nice small city in Southern Czech Republic about 2 hours outside of Prague. The town has a Castle with a moat from 1235. The grounds make for a nice walk with many deer you can feed. Peacocks roam free as well. The town of Blatna has many sidewalk cafe's with good beer and food. Very friendly atmosphere and the Castle itself has much history and is very interesting to visit. You can ride a horse around the grounds or take a carraige ride. You can also rent a row boat to row around the Castle. No charge for visiting the Castle.
