Standing before this rushing mini-river is powerful. You can hear it and feel it before see it. The air changes as you approach. It's the ozone that is produced. Feels good to the body and mind plus is cool in Temp. We didn't walk up...More

It was about a 15 minute walk from Varenna to Fiumelatte. The falls were impressive, though I did not walk up to the source. Fiumelatte is a very quaint, picturesque village well worth a walk around while you're there. Be aware that the shoulders of...More

We walked from Varenna’s square to the fiumelatte falls. We took the main road following a very small side walk along the side about 10mins to look at the falls. It was a beautiful walk and the falls were white and full when we stopped...More

Another steep walk to reach here and after all the dry weather, it really wasn't that spectacular. However, I would imagine that after rain, this is a far more interesting attraction.

Everyone at Lake Como spends time by the water, but this is a nice short side trip so you can see what's in among the lush foliage of the cliff/mountain side. We got to the cave where the river starts easily via a short climb...More

Bergamo day trip (1 Replies)
I will be in Varenna for a week in late July, actually in Fiumelatte, and was thinking about taking a day trip to Bergamo. Though I have a car, I thought the hour and fifteen minute train ride might be scenic and fun and about as efficient as driving (know there is a change of trains in Lecco). I understand that on Mondays many of the Bergamo attractions are closed, so was focusing on Sunday. My questions are whether Sunday seems a good day to walk around and experience Bergamo, and possibly...More

Hi, "whether Sunday seems a good day" Yes, as long as you check the opening hours of the attractions As for the restaurant you will choose, the advice is to ask for seats on the morning when you arrive, otherwise you might find it full up at lunch hour. "my decision to take the train makes sense". Yes, as long as you control on Sunday timetables, which can be significantly different from those of weekdays

Fiumelatte is a little suburb of Varenna and it is far 1km from Varenna center. I know there is only 1 food shop and any restaurant. I think it's better ask to the owner, if you have rent an home there. Brezza

Fiumelatte train (4 Replies)
Arrived in Varenna today, staying in Fiumelatte for 2 weeks. The person we're renting from picked us up at the Varenna station. Is the Fiumelatte station easy to get to? We need to get to the Milan Train station from here in a couple weeks. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks a lot for your reply. We decided to get to Varenna and take the train from there. Bought tickets today and we're all set. Can I ask you one more question? When we get to Milano Centrale, we need to get to Linate airport. Is there a bus shuttle at the train station that goes directly to the airport?
