An incredible landscape will leave you speechless.
If you are driving by this road don't miss the chance to stop and have a walk on this multicolor lava flow, simply stunning

We drove along the coast road and continued until we found the places where the lava had spilled out down the mountainside it was an incredible sight. There are lots of stopping points for you to take pictures and the scenery varies as you drive along. We were lucky enough to stop where a lovely lady had set up a food stall as as we hadn’t had lunch she fed us the most delicious local food - chicken in a rougail sauce, rice, lentils and we finished off with what looked like a rock cake but was made of coconut and sugar amongst other things and tasted of fudge! What we left they fed to a friendly stray dog!

A very enjoyable drive down the coastline. The lava formation offer an interesting landscape and make for good photographs. THe island is literally still growing with one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Enjoy the views!

An easy drive around the South and South-East of the island, with viewpoints and stops easily accessible from the main road.

Make the winding drive south from Sainte Rose to Le Tremblet along the Lava Route with the Vulcan de la Fournaise on one side and the lava 'fields' stretching down to the ocean on the other. Fascinating black lava rock interspersed with fresh green ferns and plants. Images of lava from the last eruption visible on the volcano. Walk among the lava, enjoy the stillness of this 'sterile' and unique landscape. Unusual beauty. Worth the drive

It is an impressive visit and a reminder of the power of nature!
If you are looking for more adventures you should book one of the tours with the speleologists where you will be able to visit some of the caves formed by the lava.
After the visit you can enjoy a great lunch in one of the classic creole restaurants around the area.
Definitely a visit worth!
