About
Gretna VisitScotland iCentre, on the Scottish-English border at the Gretna Gateway Shopping Outlet Village, is the gateway to Scotland via Dumfries & Galloway. Close by is Gretna Green, famous for runaway marriages. The village of Gretna has a more recent history. Built to welcome workers from across the globe, to the munitions factory, (long closed); their stories are told in the Devil’s Porridge Museum. The iCentre offers visitor guides, maps and walking guides for the whole of Scotland to help you plan your entire trip. A wide range of gifts to suit all tastes and pockets are available.

There is very helpful staff in th information centre who tied to track down an open hairdresser on a Monday- an almost impossible task. Nice selection of products to be for souvenirs. Visit the local shops and my husband bought a beautiful leather jacket. Ironically he had been looking for a long time but didn't find anything he liked.

On visiting the area I was in need of some helpful advice on sourcing an unusual gift of a onesie on one of the hottest days of the year. My grandaught had her heart set on a certain kind for her birthday. On popping in to the information centre I was expected to be either laughed at or given the directs to the nearest shops which we had already tried.
The lady did neither but listened to my strange question and gave me directions to the shops etc that would possible be my best options and I would be better asking the staff in these shops as its a good chance they would have onsies in the store rooms with out of season stock.
This advice was well received by my very hot, fed up hubby

Had made no bookings but were planning to continue north on the M74. Called in to Gretna Gateway and were pleased to find a visitor centre. Lady at the counter told us so much about the southwest of Scotland that we decided to head west rather then north. Had a terrific week with the six of us finding two rooms at hotels with no problems. Pleased to have spent the money there rather than the reportedly tourist honey trap of the Highlands.

Visited the Information shop at the Outlet Village in Gretna Green. Assisted by Claire who gave me more information than I could think off. Really pleased with her, her manner, approachability, friendly and full of smiles. I could not resist buying a few things. Enjoyed looking around the shop it was interesting with variety. Will definatly pop in again when passing.
Thank you Claire.

I have passed through Gretna many times but never stopped at the Outlet Centre. Situated just a few hundred yards from the M74, it is ideally located for a stop-off en route to or from Scotland.

There is a huge car park, but even this was almost full at 11am on a Sunday morning, although there is a smaller overflow car park a few yards down the road.

Refreshingly for such a centre the shops are all situated in an outdoors mall, with plenty of cafes, seating areas and toilets. Most of the major chains are here, with prices much lower than their normal stores because these are supposedly seconds or end of lines.

A good centre for a small shopping visit or day out for the family.

Very helpful staff and well informed. They were able to give me the information I needed instantly
There is a wealth of leaflets for places of interest and local facilities. Well worth a visit if you are touring in the area as we were.
