Not impressed

Not good for disabled. Far too crowded in afternoon, too many steps, asault course to get to the toilets. Very little disabled parking.

Giving 1 star as I cant give 0...What a shocker!!!! Waited 1hr & 20 mins for food after being told a 40 min wait (only told this beause I asked). They also said they were missing some things off menu so I asked what these were before I looked at menu and ended up with a list of around 20 different items!!!

To cut a very long story short, half of the table's starters arrived, pretty poor - the camembert was missing the chutney/caramelised onion and was just a completely exploded lump! Half an hour later, still no starters for other half of party or kids mains we had asked to come out with the starters. After complaining twice the other starters arrived alongside the other half of the mains!!

The mains were quite simply REPULSIVE. We had lamb shank and mixed grill. The mixed grill was missing the fried eggs and ALL the veg - no tomatoes, no peas, just a load of meat. When we enquired, the response was 'oh yes weve run out off egg and peas and tomatoes'...!!! The sausages were a rock hard mess...completely inedible. The lamb shank was missing the giant Yorkshire promised within the menu and the roast potatoes must have been recooked several times...the state of them was enough to make you throw up...

We requested and was finally given a refund for our meals and the other half of the party cancelled their mains immediately upon seeing the state of ours...

All in all...VILE.

Improvement
Jun 2019
Can I just say I’ve been a frequent visitor and lived local for years. I’ve watched the place deteriorate especially the building work from the garden and gutters full of birds nests. It needs a good jet wash and a big load of TLC. I’ve seen managers go in and out the door. Why doesn’t a little bit of money get spent on the place it’ll draw customers back in. It’s such a shame as food has improved in quality and service.
I’ve had a lovely pizza lately and had the chicken wings. My daughter devoured a tasty burger. My nephew had steak he loved it. It’s a shame this place could be a gold mine in its position below Shooter’s hill. It’s doing better could improve massively with works done on the place. New benches in the garden as they are looking old and falling apart. Come on spruce this place up before it completely falls apart!

Just had a meal , which we had to wait over 45 mins and the pub was empty!!! Then when the food arrived we were missing onion rings we asked the waitress about them and she just said they ran out and started to walk off 😡. Eventually we managed to get a very small burnt offering of garlic bread instead of the rings but we already eat our lunch . As for the drinks the beer is over £5 a pint!! 🧐 and we are not even in London looking at wonderful views🤪 just looking at our home made coleslaw which in fact was not and probably from Tesco value range!! ......
Most of the food which we wanted on the menu was unavailable so we went with our third choice.
Unfortunately the very young staff were not very helpful.

Terrible unsafe beer garden
Sep 2018 • Family
Garden benches are falling apart, there are hole fence panels missing in the garden so kids can wonder out into the woods/fields, there are holes in the lawn filled with bricks for the kids to fall down. Dog foul and broken glass all over the garden, this pub could be great unfortunately the garden really really lets it down, absolutely disgusting , run down and filthy garden back and front.

Overall poor pub
Jul 2018 • Family
I have visited this pub twice now in the past month with family and friends and I wasn’t impressed on my first visit with how slow the service was for food and also how dangerous the family seating was outside in the garden area. I was hoping that on my second visit things may have improved but sadly not, nails poking out of the benches, no table umbrellas, nothing cleaned and we ordered 5 children’s meal which included deserts, when I went to ask for them the took 25mins and only gave us 3, waited another 10mins and then ended up asking for my money back, no apology but received a dirty look when asking for my money back. Wouldn’t go back any time soon!

No consistency

Been a few times in last few months. Always have to wait for food but it is very fresh, appears home cooked, very tasty. Staff very pleasant, so perhaps they have taken on board previous reviews.
Going again tomorrow= watch this space
Went today 5/8/18. Had booked for 1.00pm but on checking because of the Cup Final we were asked to come in at 12.00, bit too early, but we did as we were asked, On arrival were told there was NO ROAST BEEF on the roast menu.
Ok ordered other meats. but meal was very disappointing, Mediocre to say the least

Awful place
Dec 2016 • Business
The manager was horrible. She was shouting in your face and calling my names. Saying I was in there Xmas eve (which I wasnt) and saying I was trying to get free drinks. This never happened and I don't understand why she is so angry. Horrid lady and terrible service for food.

Rude, unwelcoming staff
Jan 2017 • Couples
Went there about a year ago - young male waiter was very rude when taking our order. We live locally so thought we'd give them another chance this week - same rudeness and now sarcastic bar staff (from all three female staff standing at the bar chatting). We walked straight out and went to the Wetherspoons in Woolwich -better food, better staff and better price too. It's a shame as the pub could be really nice -the building itself it laid out nice and big car park, good location, nice garden out the back and walking distance from us. Just hope someone else takes over it soon.
