Outstanding staff & service, incredibly fun outdoor activities! The most expert guides for rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, via Ferrata...you name it. The lakeside slides and diving platforms are a blast to watch or take on yourself. The wakeboard park/lake is phenomenal with jumps and obstacles and has a very comfortable lakeside house w drinks and food for those that only wish to spectate.

Accommodations are very comfortable, clean, modern and well maintained.

While all of the restaurants and food are excellent the River Haus offers some very special and delicious meals. Top quality chefs produce everything from fantastic steaks, to tasty and healthy bowls and salads. However, nothing could have topped the smoked brisket & spare ribs we enjoyed - PHENOMENAL. All cooked in a traditional style smoker by people who absolutely know what they are doing.

Love the outdoors and and having fun? Don't think longer, do yourself and your friends/family a favor and book Area 47!

I went to AREA 47 with some friends in August 2016. We spent two days in the water area. The water area offers a variety of different activities, e.g. various slides, diving boards and wakeboarding. Most of the stuff is pretty unique for a water park and will definitely get your adrenalin flowing. The staff is friendly and seems to be qualified.

The wheather on our first day was pretty cloudy and cold which made the water activities a tough experience - but luckily lead to basically no waiting times. On the second day, sunshine and warm temperatures lead to a very crowded water area which resulted in long waiting times for almost every activity. Quite a few people will probably be disappointed when they only experience AREA 47 like this.

Additionally to the water area, AREA 47 offers tons of more stuff to enjoy, including a proper wakeboard area, canyoning and rafting tours (I highly recommend pre-booking!), an Argentinian BBQ restaurant as well as a club.

All of this makes the AREA 47 a pretty great place to spend two or even three days.

We were visiting in hot summer day with two kids (9 and 7 years old). There was only two waterslides suitable for them. Swimming lake is very small and was grounded. Great place for 16-25 years old visitors.

Canyoning and white water rafting and the instructors: 5 stars! But the customer service regarding the hotel or sleeping arrangements 0. At the end, better to really set your expectations low. You will hear trains, water takes 10 minutes to warm up, sad and dry breakfast. with the hearty price of 120€ a night- totally not worth it. Better stay somewhere else if you really want to have a proper rest. Plus they will blame you if you didn’t “check” properly what they offer. No sense of empathy or anything. The kind of “customer service” is based on what they are “allowed”to give you. Which is ok if they are extra nice about it. But no! Actually, I wouldn’t mind if they spoke in a way that makes us feel like they totally understand our situation but unfortunately they really can’t do anything but just offer another room and be just a bit more understanding and listening to us. But the best part is: they had to blame us that it’s our fault in the first place that we didn’t check properly their website. THAT IS IS OUR PROBLEM! What is that??!?! Is that the right way to talk to your customer? And they wonder why I got strong in my tone. Because this manager did not get any sense at all of how to empathize 😒 Makes people aggressive actually. So guys, lessons learned- we let them keep our money but we didn’t sleep there one more night. Not worth our vacation. Anyway they don’t care about our experience there in general. They won’t lose anything. But we, we don’t want to lose a good night sleep in a very good bed, no train sounds, with an amazing breakfast- somewhere else than that sad sleeping location.

Thank you for your review. We did also see the review from your husband. First of all, we would like to say that we are happy you've enjoyed our outdoor activities and we will definitely pass on praise to our guides. However, we think it's a pity that you could not keep your overnight stay and our double rooms in good memory. We're sorry that we haven't informed you about the location of the double rooms, we might have assumed that this location is not a disadvantage for anyone and did not think it's worth explaining. Making our guests aware of the location might be of an advantage for everyone, you're right on that. Your feedback helps us to further develop ourselves, thank you for writing such an honest one. We still hope we'll might see you again at AREA 47, maybe for one of our outdoor activities. All the best, Team AREA 47

Make sure you have good medical insurance!

The activities are not well supervised, it is busy and chaotic and there is a high injury risk.

I write this having just come out of emergency surgery in Innsbruck hospital.

I broke my ankle in several places on the lower water flume.

There were no attendants controlling the ride. The green light comes on after a set time. There was no-one to check that the landing area has cleared.

The unsupervised landing area was crowded with teenagers making a Go-Pro movie.

Unsurprisingly there was a collision which shattered my ankle.

The first aid facilities are non-existent. No-one seemed at all bothered at my obviously broken ankle. There was no attempt to document the accident or find out what happened. The Area 47 staff did not offer to call an ambulance and seemed to think I should walk half a mile back to my car. Only when we made a fuss did a golf cart appear to take me to the car park.

The staff behaved like children. They got some ice from the bar, but then started throwing it at each other and playing around.

The only thing they did was give me a slip of paper with the address of a small local hospital printed on it. They didnt bother to mention the world famous regional trauma centre in nearby Innsbruck. I went there instead.

We have just returned from a short trip to Area 47 and were left very disappointed.
The water slides etc looked great and I'm sure if that's what you're going for you'll have a great day. We went to spend time climbing in the bouldering cave and deep water soloing, however despite the website's claim that it's a climbing venue, on arrival we found the bouldering cave was very small with no grading or start/finish markings on the routes which made it difficult to figure out. As we were bouldering, a large group of teenagers decided to use the cave as a changing area and then just left all their things in there so half the cave was unusable.

After spending about half an hour trying to make the best of it we left. We didn't even try the deep water soloing as the holds only went halfway the 10ft wall - it was more something for kids to mess about on while playing in the pool.

As a water park it looked good but if you're wanting to do bouldering, I'd suggest you go elsewhere.

We have just booked Area 47. By E-mail the people have been incredibly helpful. Also very patient as I can only converse in English.
One warning - we tried to book accommodation on site but could not get the dates to fit. With the help of the area 47 people we found some local accommodation and booked flights. Unfortunately, the website does not make clear that you have to be 16 to do the white water rafting (except the beginners run). My daughter is 14 but has rafted to class V in the USA so this was a surprise. The flights and accommodation are not refundable so we are going to go - based on how helpful the Area 47 people have been & the positive reviews here. But I would suggest you check any age restrictions before you commit

Me and my partner and our 2 friends travelled around Austria for 10 days and in our research we stumbled across this place that sounded like awesome fun so we booked to go canyoning for me and my partner and the mega swing for our friends. We were called 2 days prior saying we could do neither as there was not enough demand that day for the activities. Initially annoyed, me and my partner chose White water rafting instead and we were very glad we did. We had an excellent, English speaking guide and an exciting rafting adventure. We hang out in the park for the entire rest of the day, we all got mildly injured on the blobbing but it's all part of the fun isn't it! We are already planning a return trip next year!
