Excellent winery and restaurant!
Be sure to try the trout in wine sauce with oranges and vegetables. Awesome dish, tender fish, insanely delicious.

Friendly staff and pleasant service, as far as I understand, a family business. A wonderful location with a beautiful view in the mountains, great music and a relaxing atmosphere in a cozy interior are included.

It's great to relax after the road and take a couple of bottles of wine with you. Staff will politely offer to try everything and compare before buying. You can order a professional tasting if you wish. I didn’t try the wine in the restaurant itself (driving), but the ladies with me liked it a lot.

It's great that such nice establishments can be found in Armenia! Success and prosperity! We will definitely visit again!

Absolutely recommended. It’s an hour drive from Yerevan, in the middle of lush green hills. A family run winery and restaurant that’s full of love. The wine tasting experience was really good and the owner (Armen) takes you through the making process of each wine. Most of their wines have won international awards and rightfully so. The food was also really, really good. The place has beautiful views and you could spend hours soaking in some good sun if you go in May. I would recommend staying over the night at Green Stone Boutique Hotel ( a really beautiful property with incredible views).
Definitely worth adding to your travel list for an unforgettable wine tasting experience.

A really lovely location, great wine & food. If you really want to taste Armenian wine you should come here! The tasting is accompanied by a great meze of cheese, olives, sundried tomatoes etc. But the star of the show is the wine. I am taking an Areni Noir 2015 reserve home to New Zealand to see if I can impress some tough critics/friends. Thank you to the team for the wonderful experience.

The Old Bridge Winery and Bed and Breakfast is located in Yeghegnadzor just off the Goris, Meghri road about 100 minutes out of Yerevan.

Owned by Armen and Ashkhen Khalatyan, it is a very small boutique winery that specialises in making wine using Armenian grapes, made mainly from Areni, Kahet and Voskehat varietals. They make 3 dry reds: a 2002, 2007 and 2009 as well as a slightly off dry white and a Grappa. All the wine is aged in Karabakh oak, even the white, for 2 years. The Grappa which weighs in at an impressive 63% alc comes in a wood matured as well as a non wooded versions.

First try of the 2009 red revealed a wonderful bouquet with a full fruit flavour, the bouquet of the 2007 is not as powerful as the 2009 but the flavour certainly shows the additional 2 years in the bottle. The 2002 is a magnificent experience showing an intense bouquet with an fruit driven taste and wooded flavour with a soft tannin finish and for just over $12 a bottle is a steal. The white, which is the most limited of their wines, was being bottled the next week so I only had a chance to taste some of the previous batches but is a wonderful drop, an interesting blend of fruit and wood with a hint of sweetness, in a white. Probably most reminiscent of a wood matured Sauvignon Blanc from Gloucester Ridge in Pemberton, Western Australia. Armen says it is 1.8% sugar content. The Grappa is a powerful experience and not for the faint of heart.

Although not generally open to the public, they are happy to welcome visitors on arrangement. Armen and Ashkhen also operate a Bed and Breakfast and arranged a lunch after the tasting. Lunch started with an amazing red bean and walnut soup, which is a regional speciality and really has to be tasted to believe. I would not have conceived of mixing kidney beans and walnuts in a soup but the combination is special. It also goes very nicely with the white. The soup was followed by a lamb leg casserole that must have been cooked for many hours as it was so tender along with just about every vegetable that I have ever seen. The lunch would have fed at least 2 people if not more. It was also a chance to try the wine with food as Armen had bottles of all the wine available with lunch.

The region also has a lot of other attractions. Yeghegnadzor is only 15 minutes from Vayk. The Darb River Canyon is just the other side of Vayk which is a stunning visual experience. There are many historical sites in the area. I could list some of them but visit web site http://www.virtualarmenia.am/vayots_dzor/bn/p10.htm for a more comprehensive list and description. Armen is a native of the area and knows all the areas and organises tours.

I would highly recommend a day trip to the region or a longer trip with overnight at the Old Bridge Bed and Breakfast.

A must for every wine lover visiting the Areni region. Meet Musho (son of owner) to have a better picture about this place and industry. A generous sweet person who spares no effort to ensure your satisfaction. Excellent experience.
The food, the wine and the location is exceptional.
Will definitely visit again when in Armenia. Any other winery tour is just a waste of time.

The most excellent wine tasting paired with exquisite locally sourced foods. An all round delightful experience with knowledgeable explanations of the wines being served. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer more hospitable group than the family who owns and runs this winery.
