"Donegal Tour Guide", Henry Doohan is a native of County Donegal and passionate about showcasing the gems of his homeland.

Irish (or Gaelic) is the first language of the people in the Donegal Gaeltacht and the Irish cultural traditions are safeguarded. Learn a cúpla focail (a few words) of Irish on board this Gaeltacht tour and have fun practicing with the locals throughout the day.

All Donegal Gaeltacht tour itineraries are custom built to suit the interests of the tourist, their location and timeframe available. The following is a suggestion of some of the attractions to include while on a day trip of An Gaeltacht, Co. Donegal.

Stunning golf course that we have visited and played for years. Busy these days, the word must have got out! It’s superb and really well run. Congrats to the Resident Pro Dara (? Spelling) and his superb helpers. They are catering brilliantly for visitors and members alike during these crazy pandemic times. The clubhouse meals are great too. The eatery is only open on some days due to the self same virus. They are managing everything really well too. Incredible scenery all round of mountains and beaches.

My wife and I and our families ate in the Portsalon Golf Club quite a bit during this strange summer. We all felt very safe with all the sanitising and social distancing measures they have in place. Every member of our family and extended family commented on the very high quality of the food and the great service from the staff. Some shielding family members availed of the excellent carry out service. I was delighted to hear this as we have been eating in Portsalon Golf Club summer and winter for many years and thoroughly enjoying the food and service. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

We stopped for lunch here as part of our “staycation” and were amazed at how lovely the two girls were serving us. We only caught one of their names which was Megan but the other girl was lovely too. The restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms and we could see them cleaning the menus etc at frequent intervals. The food was gorgeous and satisfying. Only issue was waiting to pay as it started getting busier when we were leaving but couldn’t fault anything else.

We enjoyed excellent food served, freshly cooked to perfection, even for someone who is very particular about how a steak is cooked. It was served hot where appropriate and portion size was generous. We had starters, mains and desserts on both nights of our recent short break, with both of us trying different dishes, so we got to sample a lot more of the menu. Really genuinely friendly and helpful staff who made every effort to ensure everything was perfect made the whole experience a real treat. One important note we really appreciated that in these difficult and challenging times of Covid19 we felt safe seeing the extra space given between diners with the obvious reduced capacity.

Absolutely disgusting! We arrived with 2 children (twin boys 18 month old ) During dinner one of the babies had to be changed and when I asked the staff that I needed to go to facilities advised me to go to the GENTS room and change my baby , and the GENTS tiles on the floor was absolutely disgusting and with pee and urine so I had to change my baby on the top of a toilet seat and when I came out from the toilet my wife had to experience the same disgusting services in the LADIES changing room , When I asked if there was anywhere else I can go to use different facilities and a cleaner environment I was told take my custom else where if I didn’t like it ! Disgusting to say the least especially during the COVID-19 pandemic
