Don't hesitate!
Ok, hesitate a little...get your head around what this extraordinary adventure will involve, then book it! I don't consider myself a thrill seeker but caving in the Burren was fun like I'd never imagined. My family, including three adult children had an experience of a lifetime with Terry in Pol na Gollum. There were moments when my hart was racing but the sheer awesomeness of caving was amazing and made for an incredible memory. Thank you Terry for your professionalism and expertise in the cave and also for the beautiful driving tour afterward. Back West Adventures definitely earns five stars and beyond!

Exciting caving experience
Jan 2016 • Friends
A friend and myself went to meet up with Terry not exactly knowing what to expect. Although both of us had some experience with adventurous outdoor activities, we'd never gone caving before. When we met up with Terry, he explained all the necessary precautions and made sure we were geared up correctly.

Before we went into the cave, we got an interesting explanation about the caves and the area in general. In the cave itself, our guide proved himself to be very knowledgeable and passionate about geology. We got a thrilling journey in the depths of Pollnagollum which we would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone!

Very Exciting Trip for the Whole Family
May 2015 • Family
We've had an absolute blast on our caving trip in the Burren!

Terry took us through a nice tour for beginners which was suitable for both the adults and the kids (7 and 10) in the family. He was really patient especially with both kids, keeping it a challenge for the older one and motivating the younger one, and he managed to turn the trip into a great adventure for all of us.

But Terry wasn't just an experienced and very friendly caving guide, he also has vast knowledge of caving in general, of the history of the Burren, of the wildlife and especially of its geology - we learned a lot about the different minerals, how the caves were formed and other things during our trip.

Overall, the trip was a lot of fun for all of us. And while we always felt safe and well taken care of, we also got to do a lot of the "caving stuff" in a beginner's way: some light climbing, trecking through water, crawling through holes, etc.

This trip is highly recommended as a wonderful day out for the whole family, with a great guide, no matter the weather above the ground!

Terry is a very experienced, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. I would recommend this trip to Irish and visitors alike, it is incredible what is to be seen down an innocuous hole in the corner of a woods!

Fantastic day of caving and touring the Burren
Sep 2015 • Friends
My mother, brother, sister-in-law, and I had a great day caving at Pol na Gollum and touring the Burren with Terry. All four of us like adventure, but were relatively new to caving. We ended up loving the thrill of it, and Terry was a great guide and instructor. We all ended up feeling kind of proud of what we'd done at the end, and thankful that the caving allowed us to see some beautiful features of the Burren.

We also asked Terry to give us a driving tour of the area after caving, and would highly recommend him for that service as well. Terry listened to our interests and worked with the time we had that afternoon when picking our stops. We visited the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren Purfumery, and several ancient burial tombs. Terry has so much pride in the area, and we learned a lot from him along the way. Overall, Terry made the day really pleasant but exciting for us.

A highlight of our holiday!

Having seen this advertised through the hostel we stayed in, we were determined to give this a go. It was an amazing experience. Terry was fabulous: friendly, kind, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He took myself and 3 boys (aged 5,7 and 9) on an ideal trip which the boys have not stopped talking about. We were so excited to enter a hole in the ground and crawl through the twists and turns of the cave to see a fabulous waterfall. Thank you so much for such a brilliant morning which we will never forget. (Helen)
"Great to enter a hole disguised in mud that turned out to be a major caving experience. It was absolutely brilliant and I would do it again." (Joe aged 9)
"It was brilliant and I was really thrilled to have given it a go. I can't wait to do it again." (Ollie, aged 7)
"I really enjoyed the caving . Terry was very kind and helped me down the skiddy bits. I was really brave but would do it again." (Sam, aged 5)

What can I say about this. Absolutely brilliant. The 5 boys and I had an excellent time. From the first phone call to terry and then the fantastic guide Eoghan this was truly one of the best experience of mine and the boys life.

Keep up the great work lads.

Planning to go again! EXCELLENT day out-Cullaun Two
Aug 2015 • Couples
The service, friendliness and adventure involved is something to remember. The time went so fast, felt like an hour but was actually 2.5 hours. I didn't want the tour to end, and looking forward to planning another caving trip. On a busy bank holiday, Tim tried his best to accommodate and booked us in with Terry who kindly brought us even though he had literally just got back from his holidays.
What is inspirational is the passion the guides have, you can see these guys love their job, the detail they provide about the caves was really interesting.
For anyone that wants to totally switch off, immerse in nature and activity, this company is a great ambassador for Irish tourism. It's not just a job for them, I would have paid more for this trip...it's not often that you feel something is underpriced anymore!

Would recommend thick socks, warm long trousers and top, the guide was wearing a onesie which is ideal & obviously fun & comfortable! total change of clothes recommended. Definitely go to bathroom beforehand, a flask of tea/coffee for after would be handy..we went back to Lisdoonvarna to Roadside tavern pub for food which was nice...just make sure you've cash..no ATMs (cash back available at nearby Mace-which is what I had to do)

Thanks Terry..hopefully see ya again soon : )

*****Absolutely Amazing!!!!!******
Jul 2015 • Family
I booked this for me, my partner and my 3 children (an 18 yr old boy and two 15yr old girls) while on a short break down south. We absolutely loved it.

From the 1st email, Tim replied back straight away and arranged where to meet. He supplied welly boots, boiler suits, helmets with headlights, knee pads and extra layers of fleeces and fleecy all-in-ones for under our suits.

Tip- Don't wear jeans and wear a few thin layers that keep you warm but that still give you enough room to squat, twist and climb in and don't wear good clothes...you will get wet and you will get dirty...It's great!!! Also bring a complete change of clothes...underwear as well....and a big towel to get changed under....you are in the great outdoors with no changing rooms! Lol

We were complete caving novices. Tim took us to Cullaun Two and for over 2 and 1/2 hours we had an absolute ball of walking along the tunnel, wading through the flowing water, climbing through underground waterfalls, crawling along upper layers of the cave and seeing all the underground wonders of nature we couldn't enjoy otherwise in a completely safe environment with an experienced guide.

The girls were apprehensive at first but Tim was great with all of us, teaching us all about the caves, making it interactive, giving us tasks, making us work as a team....Tim was fantastic and the kids haven't stopped talking about it since we went.

This is an experience of a lifetime and something you'll talk about for years to come....book it..... you won't be disappointed!!!

Great time caving
Jul 2015 • Couples
We did our tour with Terry. He was friendly and always smiling. The trip takes about 2.5 hrs. They give you coveralls, rubber boots, and a helmet with a light. Be prepared to have water in the boots, but it warms up, so you get used to it. The descent into the cave is a bit tricky, with a repel at the top, but Terry was very safe. This is physical activity. Be prepared to squeeze through small openings, traverse tight water-filled crevices, and hop from slippery rock to rock. Well worth the adventure in the Burren!
