This castle is still a private residence so, unless you visit during one of the times when they offer guided tours, all you will be able to do is admire from beyond its walls. As a private residence expect also to see the trappings of 21st century domestic life on display.

There is no real car parking available next to the castle so best to park nearby and then walk down the small lane it is at the end of. At low tide you can walk around the exterior of the castle walls.

We got a warm welcome today at Oranmor Castle from the freindly tour guides, Giulia and Francesco, two well informed and friendly guides, they gave us a intamte tour of the castle, we got a real feel of the history of the place and also got to see up close and personal a castle that has a loved and lived in feeling about the place, it is full of history and a must see for locals and visitors alike, this was my second trip to the castel and I recommend it as a place to take visitiors, aside from the historic value of the place there is a great sense of peace there. I would highly recommend this tour, a great oppertunity to get inside a lived in castle.

OK for a ten minute stop. The bottom part is free but you need to pay to go to the top, which isn't really necessary.Village it's in is very pretty and also worth a little walk around.

We drove and parked several hundred meters away only to find out that they were not allowing visitors. At a whim they open or close. We asked the staff at the hotel and they said we didn’t miss a thing. They only allow you in 1 room and that’s not clear when you purchase the ticket.

Heard there was a castle - thanks to TripAdvisor. Turns out it has pretty restrictive hours and tours via appointment. Access is available around the side on the sea side. Good for a 5 minute walk around, not a bad scenic stop. Please see photo for times and appointment information.

Very unique castle, highly recommended if you stay in the area. Our guide was a young boy that explained very well the history of the castle.

My family knew the resident owner of this castle and it sits in a prime position on the water in Oranmore. You can still get a lovely photo especially in evening light with careful cropping to cut out lamp posts and Tesco. Planners why did you allow this to happen?

This atmospheric castle sits forlornly behind the Aldi and Tesco stores. It was closed to the public at the time of our October visit, but made a decent photo opportunity. The rocks are slippery at low tide.

Delighted to have had the chance to visit and see the inside of one of my childhood stomping grounds, this charming and still inhabited local castle; can recommend it as an idiosyncratic tour where you're bound to hear something interesting and different each time from a tour guide who really likes the place
