Walked from Bray to Greystones on a beautiful sunny day. The heat was intense but the views were certainly worth it. It’s a mostly level walk with only one or two areas with steps or an incline.
We walked early in the day when the crowds are less. This worked out well as there are some quite narrow areas where it’s pretty much single file.
The views of Bray Head, the sea, the cliffs and the railway below are spectacular. There are a number of little viewing points along the route, perfect for a photo opportunity.

Lots of route options for getting up Bray head to the Cross at the top, the main routes up can be very slippy after rain. It's fantastic up there, has a real mountain feel, on the edge of the urban areas. The Cliff walk is perfect after a couple of dry days, in the middle there are a couple of ankle deep puddles, maybe wear old runners or waterproof socks. Lots of families use the cliff walk, it's not great for buggies, you'll need to carry it up/down over steps midway.

If you're visiting Bray/Greystones, this cliff walk will of course be top of your list of things to do. Really enjoyed it with nice seaviews as well as the train line. It is about 6.5 kms with some gentle gradients that will suit most levels of fitness.
I would advise going early in the day or later in the afternoon when the crowds have gone. Many sections of the path are very narrow and difficult to pass when meeting others. I walked both directions and found my journey back to be much quieter and enjoyable.

An easy 7.5 km/4.5 mile walk with fantastic views on a beautiful January Sunday made less than enjoyable by hordes of people and almost as many dogs, both on and off leash. It had rained the day before so many sections of the walk were through puddles and mud. Amazingly, joggers seemed unfazed by the mayhem and weaved their way through it with dogs of their own. We hiked it in both directions, from Bray to Greystones and back, in under three hours, and spent about an hour in Greystones. It might be less crowded on a weekday but we wouldn't recommend it under the conditions we had to endure. Greystones is a small town with a number of little cafes and restaurants worth getting a small meal or coffee and pastries at. On busy days it gets crowded beyond capacity.

I used to live in the local area in Bray and will never forget my 1st experience walking along this coastal trail. It is surprisingly quiet (assuming due to the open ocean on one side) and a bit eerie if you are alone.
I didnt walk all the way to Greystones but stopped just at the series of steps before turning back.
This is a really lovely walk. Be mindful that the path is mostly a one person width so if it is busy this can be quite irritating. Go early to avoid this.
I wont spoil some of the views but they certainly took me by surprise. If you are in the area I would recommend this on a quiet sunny evening and give yourself about an hour.

A wonderful walk with great views. Be warned, however, that the County Council have installed formidable barriers due to a rockfall almost a year ago. The impossibility of walking the path is clearly identified from the Northern (Bray) end, but NOT from the Southern (Greystones end.
There are two minor fences heading up from Greystones which have been circumvented - clearly by many hundreds of trekkers.
There are then two formidable fences cutting off the mid section of the path. Clearly the rockfalls have been removed and preventive work appears to be complete, but the path has not yet been re-opened.
Strong advice is NOT to attempt to circumvent the big fences - they are a bit of a technical climb which would prove easy for any reasonably skilled burglar, but not for ordinary decent people.

Walked from Greystones to Bray instead but what views! A lovely walk with some great places for photos and bird watching. Different places to go off and sit on a small beach if you wanted.
The walk is about 7km overall, with some steps and small hills (recovering from leg injury when we did the walk but still very doable!). The time will depend on how quick you walk and if you stop to take photos, look around etc.
There was an ice cream truck about 2km into the walk whixh was the best thing! It was so warm and the treat was just needed after being in the heat.

Absolutely fantastic walk to Greystones, especially the first half. Second part kids found a bit boring because of the lack of views. Take a train on the way back. The walk for everyone with different levels of fitness.

In my opionin the Cliff Walk from Bray to Greystones and vice versa is not suitable for people on a horse, those with a baby stroller, Rollator, or too much luggage.
How legel or illegal it is to make that walk is a form of unknown.
The route of the walk may change from year to year.
You have to overcome three obstacles.

This was an exceptional walk. We watched the Momma Seal with her babies. There were all kinds of signs letting you know that there were babies and what rules you spoil follow. The walk at places was quite steep. Wear good athletic shoes so you have good footing. We had a beautiful sunny day so we could see quite far.

Is this walk suitable if not great with heights?
Written August 30, 2021
Yes, there is either a wall or shrubs between you and the edge. Should be no problem.

Does anyone know if this Cliff Walk is on a paved surface or what kind of surface it is? (Dirt? Gravel?) I'm a pretty active manual wheelchair user and I'm trying to determine if I can do this

Hi Sorry only answering now. The Cliff Walk is unpaved - Compressed Dirt.
You should be able to do handle a good bit of this in your wheelchair.
Its really lovely if you get the chance to visit.
All the best

It isn't maintained for cyclists - parts of it are narrow and have steps. Plus there's a lot of human traffic - so you won't get a free run.

What is the best way to get to the Bray Cliff hiking trail by public transportation? Is is walkable from the Bray Dart station?

Hola!
Juanjo Mier

How long does this walk take please??
Written November 25, 2018
Depends on your pace but it's about an 8km walk from greystones village to bray along the cliffs and a bit steep in places, maybe an hour and a half as an average?
