We couldn't get enough of these incredible ruined pieces of Ireland's past. So much to see, I could spend a trip just going through them all.

This is a little off the beaten path, which is why you just might be the only people there. It almost feels like trespassing as you climb over the low wall, walk through the cows, and spend some quite time away from other tourist crowds. We stopped there in the evening after visiting the Rock of Cashel and we all agreed that this was well worth the detour. It's a very peaceful place.

Athassel Abbey is a large old priory in Ireland. The priory dates back to the late 12th century when it was founded by the Augustinians. Located about 2 miles from the village of Golden on the River Suir. Love the History !

Stopped here after visiting another ruin. This place is amazing and well worth the stop.

Its situated in the middle of pasture and the ruins are easily seen from the road. To gain access you have to crawl between a hole in the gate and then proceed to the small bridge at the entrance of the first archway.

Tons of carvings, rooms, tombstones, and other things to explore. Spent over 30 minutes here and did not see a soul, most likely you'll have this entire place to your self.

Athassel Abbey is the largest medieval priory in Ireland. The priory dates back to the late 12th century when it was founded by the Augustinians. Located about 2 miles from the village of Golden on the River Suir. It is signposted if you are coming from Tipperary just before you go over the bridge in Golden or just after you go over the bridge if you are coming from Cashel. The Abbey ruins are impressive and will give the visitor an indication of how large this working Abbey was during the 13th/14th century. The Abbey fell into disrepair during the 16th century and was disbanded/dissolved. The lands were given to Thomas Butler - Earl of Ormond.
