Nicest chapel in Dundalk
Sep 2019 • Solo
You would nearly lose your breath by looking at the beautiful altar and magnificent paintings of the Angel's in a beautiful arch over the altar....brilliant coloured stain glass windows and if you're lucky enough to have the sunshining through on a summer's evening....heavenly

An absolutely beautiful church!
Aug 2018 • Couples
This church is a must see if you visit Dundalk. The interior in simply stunning, and whether you are religious or ot, you will find much to admire and enjoy by way of architecture, decoration and art. Sunday mass is a treat (whether you are religious or not!) as the Rememptorist choir are just beautiful to hear. I you are lucky enough to visit Dundalk around Christmas time, don;t miss the annual Carol Service here - it will move you like nothing else!

Spectacular church!
Jul 2018 • Couples
A must see when visiting Dundalk. Amazing stained windows and the ceiling was just beautiful.
Grounds were fairly ordinary but inside was exquisite.
I have visited many churches and this one was up there with the nicest.

Great for weddings
Jun 2017 • Family
We attended a wedding here many times and had our own here back in 2004. Seating is plentiful. It could probably hold any size of wedding ceremony with ease. There is plenty if free parking on the grounds as well, with extra space generally available in the carpark opposite the church.

Wedding to remember
Oct 2016 • Couples
Attended a wedding here last week. Church has lots of history and is one of the most beautiful I have ever visited. A must to see and spend some time in quiet contemplation.

NOVENA ST GERARD MAJELA NOVENA OCTOBER 2016 Heaven on Earth on going Novena
Oct 2016 • Friends
The Rector was a beautiful singer, giving out magnets for your fridge about smiling being the best face lift, cracking jokes, praying, chatting, earthy but in a special way VERY respectful and reverend., The Church is fab. The MUSICANS were like heavenly angels, specially Lorraine, THE FIDDLE PLAYER.. The candles were burning bright for the night vigil. The Preacher talked of salvation and forgiveness. The Celebrant hosted a Huge congregation from all over Ireland and abroad. The local women and men cleaned, brushed and swept their church. The peddlers of rosary beads and blessed oils had a field day outside Petitions and Thanksgivings were read out. Prayers were said for the young and not so young, the addicted and afflicted, and all those suffering around the world were remembered. The altar was so special. Everyone blessed themselves with the Relic of St Gerard Majella. It is not to be missed. The crowds were so excited and it was real life worlds devotion. People were so cheerful and kind to each other. The mosaics, candles, stations of the Cross, statutes, beautiful architecture, altar, priests, locals and foreigners created nostalgic moments for all concerned. Very well Done this piece of Heaven on Earth. It is on all day every day until 16 October 2016.

DID NOT FEEL SAFE
Sep 2015
The church is fantastic and worth visiting. Unfortunately, I neither felt safe nor content while here because of concerns caused by unsavoury individuals at the front door. I was approached twice for money before entering the church, and felt that one particular individual was menacing. Driving a Cork registration made me feel all the more uncomfortable, and as a result, I did not stay as long as I had planned. I had driven specially from Dublin to see the abbey and to find where one of the deceased members of the community was buried. I found him, took a few photos, and got back to my car as fast as I could.

Beauty & bells
Jun 2016 • Family
A fabulous church, well worth a visit. The roof around the altar and the stained glass windows there are beautiful. It is a church with the 'bling' factor!

I recommend being in the vicinity on Sunday before one of the Masses. The music of the bells is glorious. Mass times from early morning until 12.30.

At Christmas there is often a display of cribs from all over the world in the adjoining monastery. Entry is free, but donations go to worthy causes.

Beautiful 1800's Church and Monastary
Apr 2016 • Couples
This beautiful 1800 church and monastery lies near the quay area of Dundalk, It is a fine example of Romanesque style architecture. The Alter is stunning especially during Advent, At Christmas there is a display of cribs from around the world in the monastery worth visiting and the Crib in St Josephs Church in the side alter has an old worldly feel, It is the same today as it was when I first seen it 35 years ago so it stirs memories of childhood Christmas. Wedding, Baptism, Funeral,
Daily Mass ,Novenas, Confessions, are all services provided here. Worth a visit to see and admire.
