Welcome to Jerpoint Park, where we strive to immerse you in a unique experience of heritage and culture in a very special destination Thomastown in Kilkenny , south east of Ireland. Unearth the history of Jerpoint Park with a guided tour of the footprints of a deserted 12th century medieval town. When it was founded near a crossing point on the River Nore near the Cistercian Jerpoint Abbey. The site also contains the Tomb Effigy of St. Nicholas (Bishop of Myra) plus the Church of St. Nicholas. "One of Irelands's best examples of a deserted 12th century medieval town" a quote from The Heritage Council of Ireland.Savour the delicious homemade scones baked daily during the summer months in our Tea Rooms. Angling on the River Nore for wild salmon & wild brown trout from March - September (ghillie, rods & bait available for hire). Sheep dog demonstrations with geese or sheep is a wonderful event to see.Check website for details of opening hours and guided heritage tour times.Looking forward to welcoming you to Jerpoint.Joe & Maeve

Enjoyed tea/scones in the original manor home privately owned, observed a fantastic working sheep dog, Joe (owner) gave an excellent tour of the "Lost Town of St. Nicholas" and we saw the tomb of St. Nicholas (later known as "Santa Claus"). If you wish to get the "feel" of the culture, past & present, this is a MUST stop.

Glad you enjoyed your visit & St. Nicholas's Tomb at Jerpoint Park. St. Nicholas's traits are continued to this day through Santa Claus... you did not see SC tomb as he is not dead and will continue forever. Maeve More

Definitely worth the stop while in the Kilkenny region! Joe and Maeve are gracious hosts to their stunning property that is home to the grave and church ruins for St. Nicholas. Joe is full of historical facts and commentary on the village that once thrived along the banks of the river that runs right through his property.

This stop was a highlight of our trip to Ireland Joe was a wonderful historian, host and dog handler. This property has stunning views and tons of history. My Kids loved playing with Joe's kids and riding the wagon down one of the hills while we soaked in history and scenery. This tour felt personal and i learned a ton.

Jerpoint park is not well sign-posted and you feel you are going up a private drive when you get there .... but it is well worth persevering with the quest and if in doubt ask about it at Jerpoint Abbey ! We had a guided tour by Liam, who was very knowledgeable but also full of little anecdotes and philosophies... More

I took this walk four years ago. It was the most enjoyable, relaxing tour of Jerpoint Park. Very interesting learning about the history of the area and the property. I was provided with a "sheep-herding" of the property geese, which was fantastic and amusing. I enjoyed the tour alone, which was a fantastic opportunity. Beautiful grounds, great company, an absolute... More

Alot has changed in four years, but the history is still the same. The geese have been replaced with sheep, still fantastic and amusing. Jerpoint Park will be shown on John Creedons RTE 1 programme Irelands Epic East in the next few weeks. Thank you for your lovely review. Maeve More

Our tour stopped here for tea and scones, a tour of the the ruins and grave sites, and a demonstration of sheep herding. It was wonderful. I couldn't believe how the dog herded the sheep just based on voice commands. Truly a memorable experience and well worth the time and money. Don't miss it.
