This was a brilliant boat trip which included time for a walk and picnic onnCape Clear Island and Fastnet Rock tour. Karen was very helpful since I booked this months ago with changes adding another person to the tour and changing dates around because COVID uncertainty. An added bonus was a pod of dolphins joining our boat on the way back to Baltimore while we watched the sun go down. It doesn’t get much better than this!

This is an absolute must, we boarded the ferry in Baltimore in the morning and were dropped on Cape Clear island for a walk around the island. We then boarded the boat for the trip to the Fastnet lighthouse early in the afternoon. The sea was rather choppy but everyone was getting rather excited as you were getting closer to the lighthouse. The view is so breathtaking, so impressive, just to imagine what it was like to live there for months on end with just the wild Atlantic Ocean as a companion. The boat circles the Fasnet rock to enable everyone to take pictures. We also saw some dolphins.

On a sunny day this is an absolute must. We left Schull harbour and arrived on Cape Clear at middayt. We boarded the waiting boat to the lighthouse directly. On the way out we came across a pod of dolphins which was an added bonus and I heard you could also possible see breaching whales on some trips. The lighthouse is breathtaking and the tour gives you loads of photo taking opportunities. The water was clam but some kids did feel ill while we were at the lighthouse when the boat slowed down. After returning we spent a few hours on Cape Clear. On a sunny day this is a special place and there is a steep hill overlooking the bay that is worth the walk. Overall superb day out. One of Ireland's top attractions, forget Temple Bar and the Guinness storehouse this is the real deal. Ireland's teardrop has so much history. Just do it!

6 hours in total for maybe 15 mins at Fastnet lighthouse, (Lighthouse is impressive). Clear Island - where u are left for at least 2 hrs - the walks are great if u enjoy being plagued by flies and horseflies. Very little of interest for adults or kids here.
Definitely not worth €42 per adult. Disappointed, would NOT recommend.

It was a great and unforgettable day for us . Sailing for a week out of Kinsale and even kept back in port in Baltimore for a day due to a storm and fog we got to sail around the famous Fastnet - happy and excited. The lighthouse is photogenic and surrounding background shore features look beautiful. We were lucky to be able to sail to Fastnet but there are also boat trips available. One way or another - get to Fastnet!

The Fastnet Rock is my favourite dive site - life below the surface is extremely colourful and abundant, but it's a challenging trip (in that you need very calm conditions) but oh so amazing. There are always seals around the rock and the lighthouse is of course the most beautiful of all, also being the tallest of all lighthouses around Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. The trip out is quite awsome, you can see the rock and lighthouse from so far away and appears quite small but as you get closer you realise how big and tall she is. On a very few lucky occasions the lighthouse itself was open with workmen carrying out maintenance. We took a great great granddaugher of the foreman to see the Fastnet Lighthouse close up. Her great great grandfather was Mr. James Kavanagh - who laid every single stone of the lighthouse (2,074 of them split over 89 courses all interlocking).

Very good trip to very remote lighthouse. Went in the evening and the trip was beautiful...the building was brooding and atmospheric but very worth a visit.

A great place to visit. Well worth paying to go into the site. There are steps and paths to a few different viewing areas (It's windy and will blow the cobwebs away) which are great for seeing wildlife and coastline. You get to cross the bridge to the mizen itself (more stunning views) and in there see how the Fastnet lighthouse was constructed and about the history of lighthouse keepers over the years.
There's a small cafe and shop too but if it's fine, bring a picnic and then get ice creams in the shop afterwards. This site does require a certain mobility as there are steps and inclines. But you can take it easy and pretend to be admiring the views while catching your breath! A must visit spot in west cork.

Set off from baltimore and moored at Cape clear island before heading further out to the fastnet lighthouse. The highlight of an Irish coastal trip by far. Certainly an Irish wonder. A definite must see on the Wild Atlantic way.
