Sherkin Island will always be on my mind as I used to live there for a few months and had a really good time there. Just off the coast of West Cork and a 15min ferry ride from Baltimore. Great place for artists, birdwatchers, sailors, campers, and fans of rural Ireland. There's music festivals in the summer and annual local... More

I have visited Sherkin Island many times this summer but this time went beyond Silver Beach/Strand, and came across, unexpectedly, this wonderful small holiday accommodation. I met Mike O'Connor who accommodates guests and weekend visitors to this absolutely beautiful part of the island. Sitting outside the breakfast area having an afternoon snack and facing across from us, Hare Island, wonderful.... More

The trip on the boat out to the island is really enjoyable, with some stunning vistas. The island is a fantastic gem, just off Baltimore. There are lovely trails to walk/hike/cycle. The roads are very quiet. Highly recommend.

Turn right to a charming Hotel the Islanders Rest for a resuscitating fish and chips ,with a wonderful view of... More

Paid a second trip to Sherkin in as many weeks and decided on this occasion to have something to eat in the Jolly Roger Bar. Nice pub with great atmosphere and good pints and the food reasonably priced. The owner, she's so pleasant and for that alone would make you want to come back. Here's to seeing you again soon.

Nice ferry trip over, pleasant walks and lovely beaches. There's even a mini bus to get tired beach goers back the the ferry!
