We moored off Sherkin and had a wonderful 10 days exploring the Island. There's a small marina just below the Islanders Rest, where you can get fantastic food. We enjoyed lovely crepes from a Frenchman in a kiosk next to Cow strand. There was also a great cafe beyond Silver Strand called North Shore.

We took the ferry from Baltimore to Sherkin Island on a beautiful sunny Sunday. The ferries are very convenient, there is one almost every hour and it only takes 10 minutes. The island has fabulous views, we went to Horseshoe bay first and then to the North Shore, which has a fabulous clean beach with great waves.

Sherkin Island is a small island about 10/15 minutes from Baltimore harbour. Great for a day trip with friends and family. Good walks, views, clean air. Delightful.

Superb island only a short hop from Baltimore perfect for families with small children as the boat is quick. Lovely beaches on the island and nice walks. The hotel /bar on the island has a lovely beer garden and serves good food.

Took a ferry from Baltimore, chose sherkin over cape clear only because we had 2 kids (5 and 2 yo) with us. Only 10minutes travelling time and flatter island suited us better as we had a buggy to push. Boats to n from the island are frequent too. As we landed we went to explore a beautiful friary. Took lots... More

10 mins across from Baltimore. A 20 min walk to the main beach Silver Strand. On a good say it's one of the finest you'll see, and clean (because everyone takes their rubbish off the island). Beautiful walks with fantastic views across Roaring Water Bay and to Cape Clear. Toilets and refreshments at Islanders Rest which has a good pub... More

Just back from four nights staying at North Shore on Sherkin. It's like coming home - but a home which serves the best breakfasts (home made pancakes, sausages, bacon, fresh fruit salad and Greek yoghurt) overlooking the Atlantic as dolphins, porpoises and seals play in the sea. Mike and Kathy are wonderful warm hosts, very laid back and welcoming. There... More

Sherkin is the closest island to Baltimore with a beach. You get the ferry which is regular about 1 every hour both directions and then about a 15 minute walk to the beach. Mostly sparsely populated you gave a choice if three beaches but one has a little crepe tie where you can get a coffee or snack.

Nothing quite like Sherkin Island, very pleasant ferry trip over, only 10 minutes to beautiful beaches, pubs and Sherkin North Shore Hostel been visiting since 1970 and one of my favourite places. Lovely for families.
