We generally visit this bookshop whenever we are in the area, which is at least three times a year. It is always a treat to see what books of local interest have been published. Their stock of newly published books, both non- fiction and fiction, is really impressive and there is a wonderful children's section too. If you love books, you will love the Clifden Bookshop!

Popped in for the compulsory check during any visit to a new town in Ireland. Small but packed with quality and variety. Very strong on Irish history, literature and poetry (amongst others). Very helpful staff too. Here’s hoping it won’t be my last visit to Clifden!

If you are in the least interested in Books, and particularly if you appreciate the importance of retaining small, dedicated Bookshops (in face of the highly aggressive, impersonal Amazon & its ilk) you will really enjoy coming here, browsing, and - hopefully - making a purchase.
This is one of our regular stopping-off points when we visit Clifden, as we've been doing for 50+ years, and did so again in late September, 2020. It's fair to say that, in such a small space, they offer a great selection, majoring on Irish literature and History, on West of Ireland lore + to-day's opportunities to explore the local environment, as well as stocking the latest most popular Fiction & Non-Fiction Books.
For our part, reflecting all of the above, we bought (yet another!) Walking Guide, a Book of Seamus Heaney's "Best Poems", and a very recent publication covering the all too many sad events at the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
And, we should add, the young lady who dealt with our purchases on this occasion, was noticeably more pleasant than had been the case on a number of previous visits here.

Stopped by looking for a book about Grace O'Malley the pirate queen of the Connemara. Asked the young lady and she took me over and right there was Grace O'Malley by Anne Chambers. Small place but exactly what you would expect in this cute Irish town.

Choice offerings and not at all cluttered for a small shop. Very knowledgeable owner. Better prices than Amazon for the titles we were buying.

I love this book shop, it’s a little slice of book heaven. My husband is mad for the local historian books as for me I love the range of cook books. You will definitely find something worth taking home in here, as I never leave empty handed.

Interesting (small on space, big on variety). Bookshop, art supply store ( watercolors, acrylic, oils), brushes etc, how to books & crafts for kids, local Irish Authors & Stories, How to speak Gaelic for kids ( I bought it ). Very interesting shop in Clifden town center. Stationary, cards, gift wrap . I loved this shop and bought w-a-y more than I planned- so many things caught my eye! And as for rainy moments? My husband said it rained on him 47 times in 48 hours- I say it only rained for 46 seconds in 48 hours. Beautiful Clifden.

Came across this excellent bookstore in Connemara through work. It is quite small but has a fantastic and diverse range of titles, both local and international.
It is run by two lovely ladies, Nicole and Maire.
Well worth a visit if you are in this lovely wee town.

This is a delightful little bookshop in Clifden with an eclectic selection of books. Lots of titles on local history, on Connemara , Irish poetry and literature... really nice and a good alternative to the ubiquitous knitwear shops...
