Four of us met Paul Phelan at a local hotel before being driven to the start of our walk. You need strong mountain boots with ankle supports because this walk is a steep open hillside which is occasionally rocky and boggy. We took over trousers,...More

Thanks for your review and recommendation. Thanks also for emphasising the need for strong boots with ankle support and grip. Its really good of you to spread the word; Maumahoige such a beautiful introductory mountain hike!

Many thanks for sharing your experience. It was great for me to learn from you about that ice mill that you spotted; I am on the look out for more features like that - including that interesting giants face stone shape!

You can make different walks, the longest being around 2 hours, in this beautiful National park. The longest walk brings you on top of a hill from which you see many different type of landscapes (ocean, hills, one abbay and a lake).

We booked with Paul Phelan, and took his suggestion of doing the Mweelin Horseshoe in Connemara. Paul was in touch before the hike to suggest a different day which might have better weather - and this turned out to be the case, and we had...More
