- Emma O2 contributionsgreat day outBart was our tour guide and his knowledge was outstanding, he was so friendly and so warm and welcoming. ciaran was our premium tasting guide and he was amazing aswell. a great day out, the place is gorgeous and full of history and immaculately kept. would 10/10 recommend to everyone - whiskey drinkers or notHi emmaoS7598AK, Thank you for your feedback! Though I am not a whiskey drinker the opportunity to taste three different whiskies and have the flavors connected to the tour reinforced was a wonderful experience. - Oscar_RetrieverNewton, North Carolina333 contributionsGood tour of a historic distilleryThe Distillery is going through some upgrades, so there is a fair bit of construction underway. So its hard to give it a perfect review when we were in tents and in temporary facilities. The tour we had was very informative and did a good job explaining the distillation process as well as the variations. Most importantly, the whiskey at the end was good. This is definitely worth a stop.Hi Oscar_Retriever, Thank you for your feedback! We are delighted that you enjoyed your tour and we would love to welcome you back again soon! - ChiTravl78Chicago, Illinois212 contributionsMore than Jameson and WhiskeyWe initially were not going to include this experience in Ireland as Jameson wasn’t a draw for us. But there is so much more to Middleton then Jameson! I found a new favorite whiskey Redbreast. Also from participating in the tasting I learned that Jameson is a draw for me especially the black label. :-) This was a highlight for us during our time in cork and would strongly suggest a visit and taste. And if you are not a whiskey drinker they have a surprise Gin that is quite exceptional!! I would also encourage you to interact with all of the staff. Our guide was great, the team at the reception were friendly and helpful and the folks at the bar were amazing and so helpful with our gin questions.Hi ChiTravl78, Thank you for your lovely feedback and kind words! - Lauren N32 contributionsA must do if you’re in Cork 🙂A really great few hours out. The tour is really interesting, our guide was called Cassie she was extremely knowledgeable and brilliant at her job. The whiskey tasting is fun and you also get a coupon for another drink at the end. The bar area is a nice place to sit and have a drink before or after your tour I recommend the berry smash cocktail 🙂 It is quite a way out from Cork we planned to get the bus but ended up getting an Uber there and back which was €40 each way so maybe plan better than us and get the bus.Hi Laurennovak123, Thank you for your lovely feedback and kind words! - Sean S8 contributionsDistiller's Apprentice TourThe renovations look amazing! My wife and I have been here twice before and even minus the renovations, it is an amazing experience. Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgeable. When we told him we had been on the same tour the day before with the Master Distillers, he decided to try and show us things we hadn't seen before. The fact that he cared enough to try and make the tour even better, was a shining example of all of the employees we have come across at Mideltone and Bow St. From the employees that check you out at the store, the tour guides, the distillers, and the Master Cooper everyone is kind, humble, and genuine. We met Matthew at Whiskeyfest and he spent a good amount of time explaining to us about the different maturations and brands. Barret from Method and Madness also took the time to go through the different products they have put out. This is a must do tour if you are in Midleton.Hi seansC9826GX, Thank you for your lovely feedback and kind words! We are delighted that you enjoyed your tour with Mike and Barret. The facility is set up perfectly for the experience, from picking up our tickets to perusing the gift shop. Our guide was a little young, and not quite sure how to handle our American humor, but I would tour with her again in a heartbeat. In that they distill multiple brands of whiskey here having side by side comparisons was helpful and eye opening. And finally, being able to purchase a personalized bottle of Jameson Distillery Edition Whiskey to centerpiece my bar will bring back many memoriesHi scottsJ2327RT, Thank you for your feedback! Not a whiskey drinker yet loved the visit!
Our guide was very interesting and passionate and made us forget the bad weather during the tour.
He answered all questions and you could easily project how the plant ran and "feel it".
Interesting tasting experience and nice cocktail at the end.
Beautiful place, lots of history. Go you won't be disappointed!

My fabulous wife arranged this as part of my Christmas present. We had two seperate experiences, the Cask Opening and the Distillery tours. Our first tour was presented by Brian who had a phenomenal knowledge of the history of the bildings and the personalities who lived and worked within the confines of the distillery. He ended the tour with a tasting of a 16 year old cask which displayed amazing depth of flavour, body and complex aromas.
We returned to the main visitor building to begin the Distillery experience with John. Once again we were privelidged to be in the company of yet another staff member whose passionfor his job was incredibly evident. Historically, the Jameson Distillery was known as a great company to work for, this shows with everyone that you meet within the distillery to this day. The ancedotal knowledge that John displayed throughout the tour also gave a degree of levity and brought many giggles from all assembled.
We called to the shop an spoke with Jen who was incredibly helpful. If you find yourself in the area, please make sure to schedule so time to visit, you will not be disappointed.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I enjoyed this one slightly more than the Dublin experience! The tour was great, the gift shop had much more of a range and the tasting experience was fun.
The food is absolutely sensational, definitely have lunch or whatever here, as the good is divine. And the Irish Coffee was top notch, even when one of our group mentioned a dairy intolerance, The staff had no issues bringing out soy milk to go into that person's Irish coffee.
Absolutely worth the stop!

Did the regular tour yesterday. I am still disappointed about it. It is designed to quickly rush as many tourists through the old distillery as possible. The tourguide, even though she was absolutely lovely, was always checking her watch to check if we were still in time. I had the feeling that questions were not welcome, since they would have interfered with the schedule.
I have done the tour in Bushmills, Northern Ireland, a couple of days ago as well. Over there the guide didnt rush us through the distillery, he took time to answer our questions, he was always asking as if weve got any questions and so on. And the tour still didnt take much longer than Jameson`s. Other than that I would have liked to see a little bit about how the Whiskey is actually produced today, not just only walking through the old building.
All in all the tour didnt fulfil my expectations. I personally wouldnt recommend it to anybody unless you are a Hardcore Whiskey fan (which I am not).

For disclosure purposes, I have to say that Midleton Very Rare is my favourite whiskey and I absolutely love the stuff. So, I’m biased in this review considering going the the Midleton Distillery was like going to Disney Land for me!
That aside, this was definitely the most authentic whiskey tour I’ve been on. Most tours in Ireland and Scotland are virtual and have lots of hi tech ways to make the history of whiskey engaging. Especially since they often aren’t in the place that makes the whiskey. Not so in Midleton. You get to walk through the actual old distillery and see the ancient equipment and buildings with a very knowledgeable guide. Authentic. Fascinating. Automatically engaging. With no gimmicks - just a quality experience.
And then there’s the premium tasting … an absolute must for any whiskey lover. Just be prepared. It may make you want to buy a lot of quality whiskey in the gift shop by the end …

Took the tour here recently and really enjoyed it. Out tour guide was very knowledgeable and was even able to answer some left of field questions that some of the people in our group asked. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in the area even if you don't drink whiskey. The tasting at the end was good fun as well.

I did the Distiller's apprentice tour in January 2023 and it was excellent.
John Madden, our brilliant guide, began by showing us a video on the history of the distillery and the brands that came together to form it.
We then went on a tour of the old distillery and saw the largest pot stills in existence, while John gave an overview of the distillation process and how each piece of machinery plays its part. Next, we saw the Micro Distillery where all experimentation takes place, as well as where Method and Madness is distilled.
We then went to the Midleton Academy building where we got to sample new-make pot still, malt and grain. The pot still was my favourite, extremely fruity.
Even better then, we got a tour of the new distillery and got to see the new pot stills in action. From there, we were taken on a golf cart to one of the massive warehouses for the highlight of the tour. Initially we tried a 20 year old pot still in bourbon cask, which wont be released to the market. Better still, the pièce de résistance, we sampled a 27 year old pot still sherry cask which was, put simply, sublime.
After that, we were driven back to the visitor's centre where John poured each of us a measure of the wonderful Midleton Barry Crocket. I'm not sure if this was in the tour or if he was just feeling generous!
As someone who takes their whiskey seriously, I had been looking forward to this for months and it did not disappoint. At no point did they try to sell us anything and there were no cheesy gimmicks. The entire tour took a little over two hours.
All things considered, I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is passionate about Irish whiskey. That 27 year old sherry cask finish will live long in the memory.

My favourite part of our trip to cork. This tour is a must. It gives an in-depth look into the process of how Jameson is made and the history behind the brand. Tour finished off with whiskey tasting of different type of distilled whiskey and a complementary drink is included in the price of your ticket. A must while in cork.

Three of us visited the distillery for the apprentice tour ( extended one, with cask opening and visiting the new distillery). It was a good tour, nice visitor center etc. Everything you would expect from a modern tourist attraction.
However - the highlight of the tour, the real credit to the experience, the distillery and to the whole company is Peter our Tour Guide. He has fantastic knowledge and he is amazing story teller. He did amazing job, we learnt a lot about the history, the process and whiskey itself - to the point that I am planning to get some courses with Irish Whiskey Academy. So yeah - well done Peter and thanks again for the tour!

Written February 16, 2023
We are going to be in Ireland the third week in March for a wedding. We will be in the Cork area afterwards, and eventually heading up the coast to fly out of Dublin. Wondering if we should visit the Midleton or Bow St distillery. Will be driving in from Kenmare on a Saturday.

I have a group of 8 going on behind the scenes tour in August, starts at 15:00 and is suppose to be 2 hours in length. given the whiskey tasting I decided we should get a coach even though hotel is only about a mile away LOL... dont want to get thrown in jail... my question is regarding the store, I was thinking we would visit after the tour but have to schedule the coach for pickup. If the tour ends at 17:00 and I think the store closes at 18:00, should I just schedule the coach for a 18:00 pick up???
Written May 24, 2019
I would walk. No need to schedule a bus.

We will be in the area the first week of April - did you need to make reservations?
Written March 24, 2019
Hey... unless you have a large group you don’t need to make reservations. Both times we have visited we just walked in and they set you up with a guided tour. Unless they’ve changed their policy I don’t see a problem. You could double check by emailing them. I’d hate for you to show up there and they’ve changed how they do things. Enjoy your visit... Ireland is amazing if you haven’t already been there!

We have been in Jameson Destilery tour in Dublin. Is it worth it to try tour here in Midleton too? Isnt it basicly the same?
Written July 26, 2018
The tour at Midleton takes you through the original distillery. We were advised to do the Midleton tour rather than the Dublin tour because Middleton takes you into the original site.

How can we get to the brewery from the cruise ship port?
Written June 3, 2018
We booked on line thur Jameson they have a bus it was not to far from our hotel maybe you can take a cab to the bus stop.
Written June 3, 2018
Do I need to book online or can I just book the tour once I get there? Thanks.
Written May 29, 2018
You can book the tour when you get to the entrance. We were there at 10 am on a Monday morning (April 18, 2018). We got there before the tour buses got there so it was fairly easy to get in the door and go up to the counter to get the tickets. We then waited for the tour to start (every 15 minutes if I remember correctly). During tourist season I imagine it may be more difficult to get up to the counter. The price at the counter was a Euro less than what we found on-line.
When they ask for volunteers from the tour group, raise your hand.
We were told to get there early so you would avoid whatever crowd there might be.
Plan on the tour and tasting to take 90 to 120 minutes,
